Version 2 mast
Still very stiff, smoother, faster, pumps better
Randy Royse is really liking the new Version 2 Go Foil mast! It still has the same connections so all of your Go Foil wings will fit this mast.
1)The new mast has a different foil section that is smoother and faster but is still very stiff like our regular mast.
2)The fuselage is shifted forward to add in some pumping and a drive forward feeling while pumping. This gives you a bit more lift and time to do transitions while winging.
3)There are 8 holes drilled into the base plate now so you have more options on where to position your mast on your board.
Here is a text after he rode it the first day.
"Did a light wind Kihei run today. The 75cm v2 mast .worked awesome. Used the pnl185, 14.5L tail. Got lifted easily, and surfed really well. Flew most of the way. Couldn't have done that with my old mast 31.5. STOKED!! " Randy Royse

Dylan has a V2 mast with him down in Margs currently. Get a demo and tell us all how it rides on the wing ding. Apparently hard to give back when you ride one. I thought GoFoil might go with a Matt finish to match the new wings, but still seems to be glossy. The 75cm size option is also making a come back. Mast comes complete with a fuselage attached.

So who drove that requirements? Was it the Pump Foiler that wanted to pump further...or the surfer who wanted to link more waves with less effort? (front wing moved fwd) This doesn't seem to be a wing requirements? bear with me, this is what I think when moving a front wing further up will provide but I have to admit I do not have a lot of knowledge in foil building.

It doesn't make any sense at all that moving the front wing further ahead of the mast can effect the pumping performance. Seems like it would only effect the turning and pivot looseness. I'm riding both axis normal and advanced fuses and am quite familiar with the difference in feeling and I don't think I could possibly detect any difference while pumping

My 24 year old son has the new mast. He prones at a very high level and downwinds. He tried to get me to try the mast because he says it is an amazing step up and he won't be going back. Better turning and better pump with butter smoothness. I didn't want the perception adjustment hilly just got as I new if I rode it I would have to buy it and after watching him on it, it just looked right. I have a downwind board to pay for so it will have to wait for now.

interesting that some brands think moving the front foil closer to the mast is the go and my son swears gofoil moving it forward have it right. He didn't think it would be better at all let alone that much better.

One concern a local gonfoil rider has was his large weight (big boy) across this extra span increasing yaw - obviously this is not concern if Hilly concludes it was an expensive demo lol. He does like to race and go fast although? Apparently they won't be making anymore of the old mast so obviously gonfoil know it's better. Really impressed with the build quality of this gear hey.

It's an upside down world. You just have to try one to believe it.

BTW, I'm not saying it's a bad decision, I really wonder from where does it come from..who asked that modification/improvement call ti whatever you want. So if it doesn't improve pumping, what does is the improvement? I assume furthey from the front wing will stiffened up the ride a bit on he yaw axis?

Alex told me it improves forward projection with each pump. He told me this after I demoed his gear. So I had no prior influence during the demo. After the demo, I told him it was the best pumping on foil I'd ever done. That's when he told me the whole story. How it was prototyped and that Dave had been on it since July.

So it does improve pumping!! so. downwinders has a big influence on the R&D!

That should be an easy test to conduct... Fanboys excluded of course, they always find an extra gear when it comes to new shiny product

Some of the comments and assumptions from the arm chair designers are too funny.

Did anyone measure thickness down near the fuse? Best I can measure the 'old' mast is 14.5mm.

What length mast are GoFoil riders choosing for Wing and Sup these days? I'm on the old 83cm currently. I think I'd pick the 80cm on the V2 when the time comes. Never liked a 90cm and found 75cm too short for wing.

So, how much further forward is it? Pics? Did you guys sign an NDA?

The extra holes in the base plate to improve board compatibility, are spaced at 35mm forward. I think the mast was moved approximately 35mm.

Comparing the mast location to the Axis standard fuse, the new GoFoil mast is -40 back. So 80 mm back from an Axis advanced +40 fuse.

I've never owned or ridden the GoFoil v1.5 mast, so can't compare to my v2 mast.

Dylan Indicated a modest increase of about $100 available in January. I would guess later though, as everything seems to be these days.

That's not awful given how much other HM masts are.
Is it constant chord constant thickness like the originals?

Lead = 45mm
Chord = 135mm

Is V2 mast same chord?
I guess the comparative dim is CL mast to leading edge of the fuse
135/2 + 45 = 112.5mm

I'm trying to work out what size V2 80 or 90?
Mainly for winging mainly ocean.

Not that anyone asked, but the measurement on an Armstrong performance mast from front of mast to trailing edge of a 725 wing is 4.25 inches (10.8 cm).

did the mast foil profile change? Any chance that reduced drag is the big difference in pumping?
