This video just popped up. Anyone have more information about the new Eagle series

so this is what titouane was testing on maui..well seems like something like that.

I rode a 790 in 20kn on a 5m wing - the thing is really fast and you can really put the power down. Stall-speed is not great and you have to nurse it up, too aggressive and it drops you like hot coal. Turning not as good as Kujira but on a wing it is super fun as the speed and glide is next level. I couldn't keep pump going much, but I'm 86kg and it is the smallest wing I have used, so not much skill on these little things.

I made the video! The eagle is epic - I didn't talk about it in the video but I learnt on the axis 910 then moved onto the F One Phantom 1280, 1080 and finally moved down to the 840. I got to the point where I was riding the 840 in 6 knots+ with the help of the 8m Strike CWC wing. I have also ridden a mates SAB 1000 foil. Coming from the 840 most recently - the biggest difference is the glide. It has similar glide to the SAB 1000 but turns a lot easier (probably because it's like 200cm2 less than the SAB foil). I am attempting to ride the Eagle foil in lightish winds on Monday and should have the full review of it in the coming weeks!

I'll be adding videos to my personal youtube channel and to the OTB Marine channel (they have been awesome with providing me with gear to test out). See links below (didn't like channel links so I have just posted recent video links from each channel):

Do you have any knowledge about the rest of the new Eagle Line? I've seen references for 890 and 990 but nothing
other than that. Also, since you moved from the Axis 910 to the Phantom 1280, a direct comparison between the two
wings would be appreciated and relevant.

Looks like the cats out of the bag.... From what i know there will be 790, 890, 990, 1090. all AR around 9.5. Phantom line continues and there is a line betwen the 2 in AR. I'm waiting on an 890.

1280 phantom has similar AR and size to Axis 920 but is a more refined foil and can handle more speed. Feels similar lift at the bottom end. The Phantom foils excel when you want to carve lines on waves. Very refined foils with predictable ride through the speed range, and in the turns. If you know the 920 and then ride the 1280 its like stepping from a VW to an Audi, everythings just a bit better. I rode one for a season but now prefer the Phantom 940.
To be fair the 920 is a pump and glide foil. Still a great foil but different design brief.

For sure, I'll try to put together a video comparing the two! I might need to dig through some old footage/gps data to remember what speeds I reached with the 910. Main differences were the roll axis and forgiveness of the 1280. The 1280 will roll at your command with very little input needed whereas the 910 required more accuracy with turn rate as it took more foot pressure to correct turns. It almost felt like the turn rate was locked in with the 910 - you physically had to push back the opposite direction to get back to neutral. I also found the 1280 would breach way less and would recover from breaching.

I rode both foils as far forward on the tracks as possible but I prefer lots of front foot pressure. I'm putting together a video about foil positioning at the moment which will touch on this a little bit. No news on the eagle line up unfortunately, everything was pretty under wraps - was very lucky to get the opportunity to ride the 790!

It's all about foil section these days.. those 3 foils may have the same dimensions, and you get 3 different animals H800 has apparently a much better low end than the Lift120. Keen to hear the feedback on the eagle!

Eagle line is live now. There is also a downwind specific foil line called the Seven Seas.

There's some interesting additional ridges near the wingtips on the seven seas foils. The f-one site says the following: "The front wing is equipped with fences on the wingtips to reduce the induced drag and improve the foil's overall performances and maneuverability."

The stabilizer has them too. I would expect the "fences" to act like the GoFoil "steps" which make tip ventilation more stable. I can't see how they would add maneuverability, but I'm also not a foil designer.

New boards out too, but nothing particularly exciting there.

Is it the same effect as the winglets? Maybe it's a safer design choice for intermediate riders?
Might also stop ventilation propagation. On the Gofoil step there is a difference of angle of attack on each side right? Does not seem to be the case here..

+1 if that was a "Fletch" reference.

Beyond the usual stats, I'd love to hear more discussion on how foil section and also foil profile (for example a curved, swept back leading edge vs a more straight leading edge) influence the feel of a front wing. F-One and Lift foils seem to have more of this curved leading edge, while Axis and some others are more straight. Wish I could try them all!

Wow, it looks like F1 portfolio grew over night close to Axis.
There is a mention there about the Eagle 1090 which isn't listed with specs?

It's a real shame their videos are all pretty much useless. All Stylish and fun but nothing in the form of a real information, just instagram post format

Anyone has more info on these new foils? The Seven Seas also looks interesting.
The Phantom 1480 is a real Gem for working on technic.

One Seven seas and another Bagel could complete a quiver.

I think the idea for advanced wingners, take a seven seas 1400/1200cm) for your weight then complement with a phantom for faster wave and surfy feels (1080/940) then for super high wind or super fast wave a small eagle, since a small Ha wing can still turn. Unless you want to downwind, then this is another story.

That's a great assessmentNordRoi, sounds very inline with what F-one had in mind...

Sounds like F-one is going to release more stabs this year

I for one would be bloody keen on one. Just a shame to be crazy expensive here in Aus - $2,400 for just the front wing, you can have an entire axis for that.

As usual in Fone Eagle foils in AU comes with a HUGE AU tax . I can't see how it will sell at all down under...

Ha ha they don't sell fone foils in Sydney, never seen one in a year and definitely not at that price. Just like the new kit boards no market in Australia.

im looking forward to the days where we can buy a 3d printer and make our own foils so we don't have to pay these ridiculous prices

They don't, plain and simple.
I know it's cheaper to buy from the states or Europe and ship back to Aus - a great importer business model.

NorthKiter highlighted it well, people just can't afford it and won't spend the money. I told you the price of the front wing. Didn't tell you the alloy mast is $1k with a plate and foot. The carbon 95 is $2,591.96. Why it's such a specifically strange figure tells me it's could be a fx translation but when we actually drill it down - back solving with a rough USD rate of 0.74 = 1,918. EUR of 0.68 = 1,762. This tells me the dealers in Aus came up with the figures out of their arses when Mac Kite sells the 95 mast for USD 1,469 or AUD 1,985. Plain and simple, cheaper to buy from the states and save on gst/vat.
