i'm packing a SUP with a mast track so i can slay everyone who thinks wave sailing is for small boards and sails less than 5.0. I dont need more than 5 knots.

Who else is up for a SUP/Sail division if the wind is light to keep things interesting??

stuff going to Lano to stand around between heats just to rub shoulders with the pros.

Should have stayed and sailed 4hrs at Metts,it was all time. One of the best sessions there in 5 years.

Best of all it,was most of the crew must have got sucked in and went to Lano, leaving more waves for me

did they take any photos from the chopper or from a boat in the channel or even from the edge of the reef? I hope they didn't shoot everything from the platform.

Not the best setup to shoot from if I remember correctly.

filming from the platform,water,jetski.chopper,5 mastcams, and from the island it was nonstop filming i think they spent 80k on the production big bucks for windsurfing
well done to rob and the crew

Looking at the size of the waves in those pics and knowing the lack of power at south passage i beg to differ.

The race and party would have been fun though

Its good to watch pros sail but only a select few are allowed on the platform the rest who aren't in the loop have to stand around waiting for hours on the beach and unless you have a pair of high powered binoculars you aren't going to see much.

Personally id rather sail at metts with a bunch of good mates when metts was having its day
As i said best ive seen it in the last 5 years.

Each to your own though
Glad you all had fun at Lano.

Gazza - wait til you see the pics. I checked the ones from Metts and they were like the small ones coming through at South Passage on Friday. I stood on the reef and watched the final heats of the contest, and I've never seen waves like that at Lancelin before. And the sailing level was ridiculous. Awesome to see.

Both Mett's and South passage are great fun on their day - and the two have the fact in common that they arent good that often.

I was lucky enough to be filming off the jet ski so was often only 4 ft away from aerials and reos going down in the middle and end section of the break.

Ben's second wave in the final was the best i have ever seen ridden at south passage-and i cant believe he did it in the final of the wave comp. With a Go PRO hd mounted on his boom.

a clean threeo out the front of the middle section , followed by a sweet lifter air and 2 good spray hacks on the end section - with a full fist punch claim at the end of the wave. Unfortunatley i was hooting so much that i ruined the audio on that ride. its all on tape - contracted out to the final production - which should be awesome when it hits global broadcast in a few months time.

That same ride was also hit from a helicopter

and from a long lense on the island (that was powerful enough to fill the frame with the rider) - as well as a lens on the platform. Sick!

Sunday was a bit suss with the occasional good un coming thru. but got 2 threeos from ty bodycoat filming go pr hd helmet chase cam. More good wizards stuff. Stoked.

As for me - i cant sail passage worth a damn - in the wrong place ALL the time. i prefer Metts.

Those pics were on sat it looked a bit inconsistent and small and i only had an hour so sailed scarbs instead

would have been good to watch from the reef did you sail out there or get dropped off?
