Hi Izaak,

You would be able to use the RDM 370 mast on the EVO5 5.4. It would make the sail a little softer but at the same time also a little more powerful.

Regards Pieter Bijl
NeilPryde Design.

Hey keef dad is buying a RDM 400cm X100 i think, to run on his 5.4. I'm planning to use my X6 370cm. Then see how it goes from there. I will probably end up buying a RDM 400cm. Recommend mast for the new 5.4 is RDM 400cm. But as Bijil said if i run my 370 it will be a little more powerful. Anyway see how some testing goes when i get to try it out

izaak have you tested the sais on the rdm yet

Well i had a brief 20min sailing yesterday on the EVO5 6.4. Can't comment too much but first impressions:

-Huge camber improvement, very smooth rotation.
-Sail feels very light and stable.
- And pleanty of power

Anyway will go into more details ect, with a longer session. Bursting to try my 5.4 now!!

The 5.0 retails for the equivalent of A$1061 in Sth Africa but you can get 10% of that with pre-order but don't hold your breath about getting them for that here. Bought a book last week for $30 that had a UK price of 9.90 pounds printed on the back cover (A$15.00) and don't get me started about cars that are 2/3 to 1/2 price overseas.

Still, they do look nice whatever the cost.

Compared my 7.0 Evo V to a 7.0 Evo II the other day and the V is way narrower on the luff sleeve

Anybody willing to share their (speed)rigging thoughts/experience regarding EVO5?
Last year the NP-logo was a good indicator when downhauling (wrinkle in the middle/top of the logo was usually a good trim).

Here are some of my thoughts so far on the EVO5's.

This years sails are definatly more refined than last year. Which i thought was one of their best yet. The EVO5's have a faint feeling of the older EVO2 with the power it has, for its size.

What im very impressed with this years is the power. So far the conditions that have been thrown at me on the water. They have delt with, with ease. The most first thing that i noticed was how bloody light they feel in the hands. They just keep pulling down wind which i like alot. They're alot different than pervious year though if you look closly at them. The leach twists off but its more gradual and a steady drop away. Also it looks like the leach starts a panel up (dropping off) higher up than before.

After many KM's, i recommend the correct mast. Weather it be the X65 or X100 masts. NP Are currently working on an even more refined mast, so it maybe worth the wait, if you plan on buying a few.

@keef, so far dad has been using the X100RDM 370 mast in his 5.4 and i have been using the X65RDM 370 mast. Note cams are RDM size. They basically still rig identical. Its hard to tell the difference on the water as we have both been neck and neck (number wise) Futher testing and reveiw will follow when we get the wind

Anyway if anyone plans on getting them rig them to the specs and then do gradual adjustmets to find out whats best. Only change minimal things at a time.

Had a 15 minute go today of a Evo 5 in 15-20 knots on a 100 litre Patrik with a 36cm rocket fin.

Was struggling to sail thru the lulls on my 6.3M warp but this sail was hugely impressive thru the lulls. Was twisted down to 4th batten down, had lots of camber low-down in the sail. Rotation was suprisingly good, around 7 out of 10.

Does the 7m feel a lot bigger?
