Saturday - a big day

Early morning learners session with Jane on her Start
She went out even though the winds looked intimidating. Really it was ladies morning with all the beautiful girls in our lives out sharing the passion and joy of wind surfing
I went out on the BIC techno283 with 7,5 - however the wind decided to peak early

. Pete from Bribie got out a little earlier and had a great pre-breakfast session on his magic F2 early planing weapon.
I've found a new Early Planing weapon

janes Starboard Start

. See shortboard thread
As I went out I counted 12 of us out enjoying the wind and more joined us as the day developed.
When Jane came in on the learner board she started talking to some beach goers who showed an interest in windsurfing. They expressed a disappointment at not being able to hire gear.
So with some rudimentary instruction and Janes Start we have 2 new beginners out on the water - they were stoked

. Oh the benefit of youthful exuberance when picking up a new sport - mastering the basics very quickly. The START got a real workout today - 5 different riders in on morning

Morgs son in law was getting the hang of windsurfing - upgrading from the small training sail to a 4.2 sail and making the most of the increased wind speed
I had the joy of a visit from friends who were keen to get back into windsurfing. Andrew and Janet have been dabbling a little with restarting - mostly only getting out once a year. Andrew is from the BIC Metal rock era. So a busy afternoon organising gear we had them out having a blast.
I so wanted it to work for them. The smiles and joy on Janet and Andrews faces at the end of the day was priceless :-)
I really enjoyed the afternoon session with calmer winds and settled chop. Best run I had was a race across the foreshore with Pete The joy of hearing your mate biting at your heals -slap- slap-slap and trying my hardest to wring a knot or two out of my gear to keep in front. The old fox finally passed me on the finish line - giving me that THUMBS UP I got you gesture as he went past. Fun times - great memories
Holiday coming to a close. Morgs and Pete packing up :-(. Sent some boards home with jane - that only leaves a few behind ;-)
I'm staying into next week as my mate Richard is coming down from Bundaberg to share the remaining wind
A fabulous day sailing with friends - windsurfing looked the activity todo today. I can say (biased - IMO) we dominated the landscape.
Cheers Jeff
Ps. Didn't get overtaken by the catamarans today :-)
