oh to be 20 years younger and fitter again, fully powered up on 5.1 and over powered at times, would have gone to a 4.7 if I would have stayed later into the arvo. excellent ramps even the smaller ones produced good jumping. good speed to be had comming back on port tack inbetween the waves.
I'd have to say its more fun than my local at queens.
Only draw back is the epic journey to the water at low tide.

that spot is great! it's like an endless version of viccy point's thompson's beach area with bigger waves and flat water in between them

it's a loooong drive from the gc

the water is browner than a winter westerly at wello and full of prawns and mullet. i had to duck and weave to avoid getting speared a few times

i was just curious - has anyone sailed nudgee beach area? would it have the same sort of graduated beach slope like beachmere? i've fished there on a few occasions. it looks like a bit of a hike to the water.

Yeah... It only works on a really high tide, unless you enjoy carrying your gear about 400m! It also doesn't have the same gradual gradient that Beachmere has, hence more bay chop rather than rolling waves.

So happy u had a great day switch; great to see so much fish activity hey! Next time the high tide is a bit higher than this weeks scale there's less of a walk; in fact it's launch off the beachwith bigger waves I believe.

where there's tiny fish being chased by big fish, there's bigger fish chasing the big fish.............etc.etc
but the place is worth the risk of being chased by a bigger fish

Is it like Thompsons Beach (VP) where you can stand up a fair way out? Post up some videos too, I want to see it

^ i reckon the waves would be much bigger than thompsons.

i haven't sailed beachmere but have wave sailed on the bank a kilometer northeast and the waves there can get to shoulder high.

Hi Lungs; Great to hear u had a good time. Somebody else will probably have a better hypothosis than me but; I was there on Sat the tide was lowish and the waves weren't very big; just like the last 2 times; still lots of fun.

The best times I've had there with bigger waves were when it was high tide off the beach launch. Could it also be that the swell had more time to build in the previous days; wind was more sideshore for better play and more water depth closer to beach allowing deeper troughs closer in; gaining more height of course the further out and deeper you sail?

Very cool; particularly liked the bit in the beginning around 1.10 where you bail on a jump as not to hit your mate hiding behind the wave.

hahaha great session. I have some footage from my mast cam from the day. Its only SD though so quality isnt that great. cool angle though.

its so good to see more and more people enjoying the spot. Been a long time since its seen those sort of massive numbers (6 :))

Ill see if i can get some of the better parts out of this mast footage and put it up.

Thanks for the vid sir bigstim

If there's wind a few of us should be there on sunday..... The first person to get to beachies should post a weather report up so everyone else knows whether to come....

Great video gentlemen..have you tried the Bribie passage. Launch from south esplanade and push upwind to the channel marker. Works only on big tides high to low. Best near mid to late outgoing. Makes a 'gorge' like wave vs tide with very steep boiling waves. Also Red beach on the south of Bribie. Has a rolling windswell similar to Redcliffe however continues to roll similar to Beachmere. Caution if the tide is outgoing and you have gear failure though..hello Moreton. Cheers

Bribie is my fav spot. Works best though on run out. Wind against tide.
