Forget the starboard there is a nxs freestyle just like Gestalts'.

Hi Steve,

i think you are thinking of the yellow one. the yellow one was based on your board and then tweaked to suit a heavier rider. i think your board is a little more wave orientated. i think the guy that works for pete also has the original version that started them all.

my current voodoo is a prototype, we did a few version to get it right during testing. other than rocker line and rail style it is a very different board.

i got pete to change the plan shape, completely revisit the volume distribution, thin out the rails, change the footstrap setup and position and add a single/tri fin option. it also has the new graphic.

the board is going to be the 125lt production board.

i'm keen to get you to have a go in the surf and see what you think. here is the board. www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=59469

edit* also, pete is looking for sponsored riders to assist with design and testing. he's also got a couple of new slalom boards on the go. doesn't matter what discipline wave / formula or whatever. if you are keen give him a yell. i'm not sponsored by the way.

yeah its the 99.

i think its just distortion in the lens (camera phone pic).. the board is actually only 231 long, the shortest of all the boards pictured.

at first feel, it feels noticeably lighter then the pro edition fsw

*edit* apparently my camera phone has a wide-angle lens.

yeah, its a '09 mistral joker 99L, a rare beast and the last of its kind

haven't weighed it yet and probably won't, but it feels really light, and reviews place it 2-300g's lighter then the pro edition jp boards. Only the fanatic skates and the starboard flares are a tiny touch lighter.

I think if possible next year when i'm working fulltime i'll get myself a skate, they seem to be mega popular with the majority of the euro freestylers.

go home fairly late today, for a friday anyway, stepped in the door 5:15, looked like there was a tiny bit of wind out so crammed the gear in the car and rushed off to manly.

ended up sailing from 6:15 to sunset by myself, was planing no problems the first 30 minutes but it tapered of a little towards the end.

the joker is AWESOME. mega light, planes really early, and rides pretty soft, but best thing is probably that it is so hard to fall off, so stable compared to my FSW. and the stock 23cm fin seems to work quite well, no spinout despite me pushing it fairly hard in light wind. and seems to sail backwards good at least off the plane anyway.

was only 13kts out there, so bit light to really do anything, had to sail with my back foot out of the strap to keep upwind in such light wind. thats probably the only bad thing so far is that i set the stance mega wide (front holes at front, back holes at back haha) which makes it a bit unco to sail upwind, so will have to tweak it a bit. that and the fact that it took the guy i bought it from two and half weeks after i paid him just to ship the damn thing.

anyway, hopefully sunday comes through, i need to move my harness lines too, last time i sailed had the 5.3 up and the lines are a tad forward.

I think from now on if the forcast looks half decent i'm working draftsman hours and knocking off at 3-3:30, should be able to get 2 hours of sailing in after work :D

oh and as for 4 boards, only one was bought new, and its my only addiction, i do work fulltime when i'm not in uni thou i.e. now. also SOMEONE BUY MY FSW!!! (so i can buy more gear teehee)

haha, anyone is welcome to borrow the 75 newwave, i'm pretty sure that despite its light weight the thing is bulletproof, thats why i brought it to christmas meet, the FSW i don't mind lending, but its pretty fragile so u ding it u buy it .

btw, you get the choco fs fin yet? what size did you get out of interest?

^ i got the 24cm for lightwind. i notice on my account it's still pending so i guess anyday soon it'll start on it's voyage.

the 07 mfc freestyle pro i had was an amazing light wind fin. 25cm even felt really comfortable with the 6.4 so i'm keen to see how the choco compares.

Hey swoosh, after chatting to you today, I went to have a look at some freestyle boards at Surf FX.
They had a 97 litre one, but I've never ridden one, so didn't want to buy based on a whim.
I ended up trading the slalom board on a 92 JP quad though, which I've been waiting to see.
I need to learn some tricks now.
Anyone offering to teach me ??

, who talked you into that lol. you would want to be pretty keen on just sailing waves with that i'd think?

and nice to have a chat with you. dunno if anyone is teaching, i just watch the guys who look like they know what they are doing . I think if you want to learn fast its best to have someone about the same level of sailing ability to push you. Where i usually sail all of the guys just freeride or sail slalom gear so I tend to get lazy and not bother trying things

Talked myself into it really, and got a trade deal I could not refuse.
sail Currumbin mostly, so lots of time in waves, rarely sail in flat water. I've had a delta thruster since 1996, so I'm used to teh slushy feel of multi-fin boards and I really like it. They crank upwind and are fun to ride. My Delta is just too small for teh Goldie though, rarely enough wind./
I'd really love to try a freestyle board sometime. Meanwhile I still have a JP FSW 101, which they were dying to take off my hands. so I have a bump'n'chop board still
Might trade it in spring on a freestyle board yet, who knows.
Depends on how many guitar amps I get offered between now and then.

It's a 2007 I think, pretty good nick, newish fin in VGC.
I was thinking about trading it for a new one, but I put the 92L quad on lay-by yesterday and am thinking about going for a freestyle board as my light wind board, for something different. They have a new one of those as well, in addition to an endless list of excuses to give the missus. They crack me up with thsoe, a lot !!!!!
I need to line up a ride on one I guess.
