i had a nude 54 speed board, still prefer allround performance of slalom board.

i found nude 54 worked best with a softer fin like techtronics, carbon fin overpowered board too easily, especially in chop.

super narrow tail equals nightmarish upwind performance, enjoy the walk of shame if its a speedboard you bought.

It's actually a little bit larger than 54, that just what we decided to speed limit it to.

There might be a bit off a weight difference between you two which could change things a little

Pete the 54 you had is a very different. Its quite flat through the middle, which makes it different to gybe compared to slalom boards. When you figure that out it gybes really well but you have to commit pretty hard. It was also pretty low in volume with a very narrow tail extended between the straps so it was really only suited to stronger wind, and smaller fins. Its a great board for going really fast, in control in nasty conditions. ie a WA allround speedboard, and for that its really good. Upwind is a bit tricky if underpowered. I had a ball on it in the ocean. It was a gybing weapon out there.

The specs of the new one Darryl has are 55cm wide, 94 litres. Its got a bit more rocker in the middle to tighten up the gybes, and the outline is wider in the tail to help upwind and through lulls. Its more of a crossover board between speed and slalom, and is more practical for bigger guys in the gusty conditions we have here.

Chris have you been designing boards for Fanatic? or they been copying your nudes?

Sweet board Darryl.
The footstraps at the rear appear to point forward, twisting the body forward, not parallel to the centreline. Is this technique not spoken of?

Cant find a pic of an AB+ 54 from 2009 or before but looks very similar... part of the secret is probably the side we cant see on the pic though!

Toby, When you strap on the larger nut sack in the stronger winds it makes you walk like a cowboy so the angled straps are just more comfortable.

Only really used the board once so far Lelos and had a 40.2 screen display. Really happy it so far, can't fault it. This is Chris's 42 which might be what you are after.

leo there mite be something in it, i did a stencil carbon kevlar graphic on my slalom"hot lips", just kept moving the some Matt weave with a spray can and ended up with more of a golf ball texture, the board was soooo early to plane and ended up with a 33 on the dial and thats not easy at sancturary point
