Paqua Midi is the way to go.....I notice that they have made the neck a bit larger than the Paqua Mobile...easier to get GPS in and out. Fits either Navi or Garmin.

Do they come with an automatic fastener for people who forget to do it up themselves.....3 times, not mentioning any names ...... Danish, hairy, has horns on his helmet, apparently can be horrible.

Absolutely. It is a very small price to pay for redundancy. When I do a new PB I don't want any doubt about it and I don't want to lose it to a spike or a temporary GPS hiccup. I don't want to have a great session and at the end have an almighty crash and lose my only GPS and consequently the only record of the runs I have done.
I am amazed that speed sailors will spend thousands on a new board, a boom or a faster sail but baulk at spending less than a couple of hundred dollars for a second GPS as insurance on all that investment. Oh well, each to his own.......

Not to mention redundant sails and crew going by your avatar. Personally I think that's taking redundancy a bit far.

Just picked up a Paqua midi and looks very good, great velcro strap. The best thing for me is that you have to roll/fold the top down to close so gumbies like me cant forget to the do the pack up

The only downside is that it is only water tested to 2 metres for periodic submersions, I guess time will tell ..........

I believe 2GB is the biggest it will take. Unfortunately this is only large enough for a couple of years 24 x 7 continuous logging.

With the GT11 it wasn't size but voltage compatibility that was important. It only puts out 2.8v, so 3v cards either don't work or are unreliable.
I assume the GT31 is the same, somewhere there is a list of compatible cards.
But I do know that the sandisk 1GB works OK

What I was really after was the size, so sounds like 1 to 2 gig will kill it .....

Memory size is not really an issue as the GT will make very small files, they are only text, no sound, images or video. So think back to 1996 and memory sizes back then.

Just find a memory card laying around the place you got with a cheap camera or mobile phone. Thats what I did, with a 32MB card from a phone. However I'm now using a 1GB card my sister bought off eBay for $1 and $10 postage.

Yep, that's why I said size wasn't an issue.
For my distance attempt last month, when the unit was on for 6/7hrs, and I did 150km the file size was 1.5MB.

I've got a 1 gig card, every session I've ever done is on there, and it's still 90% free...

Does anyone know what the "low power" mode on the GT-31 does?

(Harrow waits in front of his PC for the typical useless response...."uses less power")

Think it switches off some of the features so dont use it

Got a GT-31 through Sunshine Coast Sailboards, they were very helpful and I was very happy with the price. Prices may be in flux now due to exchange rates with Oz $$. Will post another thread re what I found setting it up etc. Thnx all for your help
