It was great meeting so many speedsurfers there (and before in WA). Big thanks again to all who helped up with gear loans, tips, and other stuff, in particular Decrepit & Dot, Fangy, Jonski, and Stroppo.
We got back to 10 cm of snow on the ground, with more snow predicted for tonight followed by a freezing spell that will keep temperatures well below freezing for a few days. Wish we could still be in Oz!

Just found these pics on my drone memory card, I had forgotten that I had flown it the first day at LG. Basically no wind, but there is always some desperado keen to sail.

I imagined LG looking like a bog hole, but it looks crystal clear.

Kazza that weed is like wire wool, in some parts of the lake it's thick and wraps around your legs so tight that you can't waterstart

I couldn't make much ground upwind one day ( small board and fin and the wind had died). I decided to go into the shore and walk the board along.. bad mistake..I got into the wind shadow and jumped off into waist deep steel wool type weed..No way I could walk forward. The only way I could get into the shore was to slowly go backwards dragging the gear.. the hardest 300m I've ever done!
Not all the lake is like that though.. Many areas the weed isn't as thick and you can walk in it..The last 2 seasons it's been very clean,a lovely place..

They weren't as bad this year as 2018 ..

It was very nice to meet you and Nina. I was very disappointed that we didnt really get to sail together after I injured my back and had to leave LG soon after you got there. I really hope to see you here again one day.

Looking back at the summer LG season, I think it is safe to say that, although there was a great deal of fun sailing had, it was a disappointing season with the water levels. There was plenty of weed, but just too much water over the top of it. Looking at posts from there so far, there have only been perhaps 4 or 5 reasonably good speed days for wind and perhaps one or two excellent days. March has seen some nice SE days but with most only 15-20 knots. Hoping to get back over there for any big Westerly front that may come through in April - May. By then the water level should be lower and the flat water much more extensive. The gusty 30-40+kt westerlies can produce some very big speeds, but it is very hard work sailing them compared with the summer Sou'Easters. It's also a long way to go for just one good day, or maybe two if you are lucky.

I reckon that video paints a picture of a brilliant holiday Peter! It was great to meet and sail with windsurfers from the other side of the globe and hopefully you two will do it again someday, with conditions that are even better, wherever you go.

yep - that's a classic JB

I'm sure Jimbob has a catalogue of pics showing all the different water levels....he just posts one of them selectively based on whether he'd like more or less windsurfing friends to turn up for the weekend

wow just got back from 10 days at lake George. What a place. used all my gear from 92 Jp SLW with 9.3 to my 49 jp speed board with 7.0. crazy place below is link to light wind sailing and the water glassing off near the weed beds. Crazy crazy, over 400 kms of sailing. My feet are screwed. I'll post some more video of the fast spots

I think the fin is 50 degrees, Ive heard 45 is best but first time at Lake George, NOT my last.
anyway the JP 31cm was perfect for 135 L and any sail, but with JP 165 it just held.

31cm is too long for the weed but hey, I was the only one sailing.
GPSTC team ? no dont know who they are.

put on 37 knot run soon and 29 knots/ 54 kmhr on SLW

JP SLW 92cm 54kn hr / 29 knots , want more wind on the broad reach!!
