I would like to see a 48 hour rule for posting a session which affects the teams monthly score. I hate waiting to see if someone is hiding a score Lets have a rule requiring openness!

What if you had a weekend, or even week away on holidays?

Sort of agree, but some of us don't have lap tops or internet connections while traveling, it could be hard to post within 48hrs sometimes.

Perhaps on such occasions some notice could be sent in advance to warn of possible late postings and the reasons why.

Herbylyn seems to have a great compromise. It removes the gamesmanship of delaying posts simply so others cannot see what has happened. I suggest the proportion of sessions where people cannot post within 48 hours is fairly low(it may be common for one a small number of people but overall only a small percentage of sessions!)

its been a while since last post ,
not everyone especially on the west coast has perfect wireless connection , not that many golden archies !!
the 48 hour rules is silly , we have a hard enough trouble getting people to wear a gps , let alone post.
it is about fun , not pressure about meeting some deadline to post .
What happens if you are a way sailing for two weeks , no data !
I can say that the here in perh or WA it is not a viable option and would make people move away from the site / sport
it has always been about fun , learning and sharing , have we become an apple or gates

Sounds like we will have to report for duty and explain our absences.

Whats the big deal about results coming in a bit late?

We have had some times when the 7 days after the end of the month rule has proven difficult to meet -- people were emailing files to the captain for him to enter, I've had requests for extensions of time, and that's with the existing rules! I can't imagine what it would be like if we changed this to 2 days.

To my mind it's pretty obvious if someone is gaming the system, and those people have to live with other people calling them unsportsmanlike. This is far more of a deterrent imo than any 2 day rule.

My vote is to keep it as is.

This idea is purely around scores that affect positions in the team monthly table.
I suggest there should be no time limit on posting as is currently the case... if you are away for months post when you come home.
The current rule of scores counting up to 7 days after the end of the month means no month or year is finalised until the 7th day of the following month. I just put forward the idea to make it less than a week.

Yes they look great. A good indication how you contribute to your team during the month.

Thanks again to Lao for doing the icons, if I had to do them myself then I'd still be staring at a white screen in photoshop

What would be a good idea: in the Individual Ranking section to have a Month filter like the (Team Ranking section has)
So you can see how you are performing against other sailors for that month.

Done:

gpsteamchallenge.com.au/rankings/individual?country=&year=2010&month=12&state=&team=5&age_division=&gender=

Thanks for the idea!

Love the icons Nebian (some may not )
As a div 4 sailor in a div 1 team I seldom get an icon.... rather than manually tracking them down in the sessions is there a way of seeing how I did last year, how I am going this year etc?

I'd like to be able to see sessions that have gone off the bottom of the front page - a second page (or more) would be good.

We're going to be keeping you busy here Nebs. Sorry, but it will help a great site get even better.

I think you get what you want if you click on the "Sessions" menu / heading at the top.

Kaleb from the Tassie Speedseekers put together this great little table of team contributors for each month. AUS02 suggested it would be great as part of the TC website and I'm +1 on the suggestion. If it's too difficult to programme maybe Kaleb can do a table of all the teams

Original thread www.seabreeze.com.au/forums/Windsurfing/Tasmania/TSS-GPS-TC-Contributors-2010/

Done:

Thanks for the suggestion

Any chance of evets and me getting our profile pics back?
I've tried reloading mine, and they appear in the edit page, but not in the public page.
Bender's and Sam's are there, so it's not a general problem.
Could it be something to do with when last loaded?

Any body else missing their profile pictures?

while your at it Nebs could you develope an easy to use software(nothing to do with gpstc) where on the desktop there are just 3 big buttons to click on, "email, Internet,Photos i've got mates ringing me all the time on how to use their pc's the classic was how to scroll down a page.

With gpstc could you add some back ground colour or have an option where we could do it?

Instead of writing your gear on the table each time do you reakon we can in our profile type in all the gear that we have and when its time to lodge your times you can click on the gear that you have used and it shows up automatically , just like on the GPS speedsurfing site ...Just an idea....

And also whata you think about putting an extra category "500m" , That is the allrounder speed distance and not easy to accomplish , i reakon this would be a good test for eveyone...
Whata ya reakon guys...

We've discussed this before Pierre, and it was thought the 6 categories worked as they were, and from a programming perspective was ideal, so the 500m idea was abandoned

Firstly, love the new contributor icons Nebs. Nice work.

Not a completely serious suggestion but I sometimes wonder what it would be like to have a classification for Formula within GTC which doesn't affect the eligibility of the figures to count towards team score but allows them to be tracked in a separate PBs section/table. All categories are harder on formula so can't be compared together with speed/slalom results.

Us wind starved folk in NSW often get our speed fix in the prevailing light NSW winds by seeing how fast we can make a big rig go.

Y'know, a category wouldn't be that hard to add, and it could cater for some other suggestions as well...

For example, the categories could be something like this:

* Speed
* Slalom
* Wave
* Formula
* Longboard

What do you think?

So, correct me if I've misinterpreted, this wouldn't affect the scoring system but you tick the category that applies to your session and then you would be able to filter out, e.g. all formula sessions for a team, or month, or year.

Great idea Nebs although as the GPSTC is a dedicated team speed sailing website I believe water state categories are just as important as the gear used i.e. flat water speed strip (Lake, inlet or sand bar), Bay (semi-sheltered) and Open ocean (surf beaches). Of course this could be too subjective categorising spots.
