Comments: At last a decent speed and some decent wind. Did a test run used a weed fin first best I could manage was 59.6 km/h, then used a Chris Lockwood Customised, and did 63.5 km/h, shows you what a difference a decent fin can make. with the way the wind is today, this speed will be destroyed today, holding speed event in Cervantes with hotshots, and all the big boys are gonna play later today. I hope to do a PB later today, just wanted to get a decent score on the board after yesterdays dissappointment.

Comments: Was much choppier in the afternoon, higher tide and stronger wind, much harder to go faster, learnt a bit about sailing in such choppy and gusty conditions, did a few mid 60's runs, need a decent speed fin, and a small race/slalom/ cambered speed sail. I'm sure the top blokes would have done high 60's today with the odd 70km/h.

Comments:should have used my 7m for the gusty conditions. That first 5secs are critical for me. Should have done 35+. Need a smaller board. The gusty conditions and board slowed any chance of getting closer to 40

Thanx for posting 4xl, and sick man, this is not meant to be about just posting fast times, it's about posting all your times so people understand what is capable, in what conditions, with what gear, and what experience level. We were just very lucky here in perth yesterday to get epic conditions, Slowboat clocked a GPS Display of 75.8km/h (40.9 knots). That's out of most mere mortals reach here in perth and it's surrounds, shows you how elite he is!!!!!!.

If we don't start getting some decent traffic with postings here, Laurie will never give this the Top of the Thread Sticky Label treatment that I have asked him to. we need lot's of postings.

So please everyone post your times, or this thread will just fizzle into obscuity, which personally I'm OK with, not invested in it, it just seemed to flow on naturally from the other thread, thought it was what people wanted. So if you want it, you got to demonstrate there is a need, if not, I'm happy to keep clowning less work for me, I'm busy and stressed most of the time as it is, you'd really laugh if you knew what work i did. Clowning is one of my releases. I don't need to feel responsible for keeping this thread alive. We also need to keep the chat off this thread and leave it for posting times only. The chat can occur on the other thread.

Comments:I got down late after work the forecast was only 15-20.
I was surprised when I got down there it was blowing 20+.
I said you beauty finally wind for a change. Its been a really crap season in QLD this year so I was pretty happy to get out. The water condition were pretty choppy maybe 2 foot chop but from all directions. It was hard to get compthy as I have a wound on top of my foot just where the bloody strap is, just wont heal and bloody painful. Anyway still a good day.
Also I use a navi gps so it doesn't read decimal places.

I havejust been given a brand new Garmin Foretrex 201 GPS thing for my birthday, Obviously I'm very happy, however I tried to charge it but the voltage is too high here in Oz (it came from the uk) and i think I destroyed the plug in adapter/charger. So... does anyone have a spare charger I could buy off them if Garmin can't/won't give me a new one? You might have one if you lost one and bought another or exchanged due to warranty.

If you do have one I can then charge it up, use it and post on here!!

As Gestalt said, they use much the same voltage in the UK as here (220V compared to our 240V).

You can get multi-voltage wall warts at Jaycar, they come with a variety of sockets on the end so if you bring your GPS and charger down there the guys might be able to help you. They should have a multimeter there as well, so will be able to tell you if your charger is outputting the right voltage (or is broken). If the worse comes to the worst you may have to cut the charging cable and solder in the wall wart to the cable, but this is quite a minor bit of surgery and isn't difficult at all.

Conditions: Generally accepted to be hitting 30, heavy chop, plus exhaustion after sailing several races!

The only time I've put a GPS on a board - thanks to Sam from Wind Surf N Snow. Would have been quicker but I was only out for couple of minutes and wouldn't head far downwind because I was too tired to beat back.

The DAC mob are now looking to see what speed we can get out of Raceboards, Mistral IMCOs and Windsurfer One Designs in the winter westerlies, when the water will be flat. I'm betting the Windsurfer One Design mark will be peaking 27+, with IMCOs over 30 - but I may be way off.

Overpowered and big chop, very gusty and when I eventually got catapulted I left a hole in the water thats still filling up. tore GPS off arm and lost hat.

46, 180cm, 90 kgs, sailing for 20 years with one break of few years.
Knees dont work too well from years of surfing, skateboarding, League, touch footy and dirt bike riding.
Now, favourite is just beer!!

Comments:8-12kts with one good gust to 15.On the limits of sailing with this combo.Had to pump alot to get on the plane, but nice to get a sail. Data checked with Realspeed.

I went to Dick Smith and they said no chance!

The transformer says:

Input: 120VAC 60Hz 10W
Output: 5VDC 400mA

So I think I blew it by using it without another transformer. I don't have an ideas about this stuff so I'm sure I'm wrong. However I can buy a new one from Garmin. So all's good (I hope).

I thought I'd be breaking 30 knots relatively easily buy looking at all of your speeds it seems a little tricky!

.5 to 1m swell, very choppy, no real flat sections to speak of. Basically a southerly at Kyeemagh in Botany bay is not a speed demons paradise so I really need to get over Kurnell way and find some decent flat water. I also had major problems keeping my board on the water. I'm thinking xmas will be a good excuse to invest in a new second hand more modern shape board hopefully a lot shorter that will help solve this problem. I have my eye on an Exocet but I'll see what's available at the time.
I want our nor easters back!!!

hi crash, if it is 120 volt then it is most likely US. when you buy stuff that is made in the US (if it was bought online) then you got to spec what power supply you want otherwise it comes with the US adaptor.

sometimes in OZ when you buy stuff (eg audio gear online) if you spec 240 volt then it comes with a UK adaptor. sux i know.

but you can get adaptors from dick smith etc.

The voltage in Australia is usually somewhere between 220v and 240v, with the average being about 230v. A plugpack for the UK, should work with fuss here in Oz.
