Rider,

Those were my thoughts exactly. At least I have more selection with these masts.

Thx guys.

So I have another thought here. I may just return this mast and get either a 400 Ezzy Hookipa RDM or a 400 NoLimitz Sumo RDM for a 5.3 wave sail. Which mast do you guys prefer? I am 175 pounds, 5'11" tall if that matters. I will be using that set up for wave riding and jumping.

But seriously, you still have a wave sail, as you said in good condition that needs a 430 mast!! Why get another 400??? Maybe you've decided just to stick with your old mast for that one and get new sails as well.

If you are going to get a new sail, I would suggest starting with a sail that suits your needs, is available in your area and is at the right price, THEN go find a mast that suits that sail and perhaps other sails that you have or that you are planning on getting.

Buying a mast then trying to fit a sail that goes on it is kind of like buying some wheels then looking for a car that suits the wheels!!

Well noted and agreed, where I am coming from is the fact that it is the end of the season in the USA, and gear is on sale. I like updating my gear a little at a time, so it's more cost effective for me. As you know, the mast is the skeleton of the rig, and if I buy the correct mast now, I will have much more options for sails when ready. Plus I use my 430 on my 6.0 Naish Allterain sail, so my 430 isn't a loss to me. But keep in mind my 430 is dated as well. It's a SDM Powerex Wave. I have heard good things about that mast, but will eventually upgrade that one as well to a RDM.

Well everyone, I am sending my 400 mast back, and the shop is giving me a full refund.

I just purchased a brand new Ezzy 400 Hookipa RDM shipped for $400, including shim and mast bag. I also have a Ezzy 460 Hookipa RDM. So I can use my 400 bottom and 460 top and get a 430 set up out of this as well.

I have two brooms. A small one for light mess and a big one for those messy days . Although the big one sweeps more i like the control of the small one even though its a bit twitchier.

I made a real durable boom out of PVC pipe. It's great, cuz when it breaks, I just make a new one for $20.[8D

Naa, I have a Chinook Pro Alloy boom. I'm happy with that boom. Works well and affordable. I don't know if I would ever spend the money for a carbon boom. I'm not picky about booms, can ya tell. Haa!!! Just a stiff boom will suit me just fine.
