Goyard who uses smaller foils is far faster than anyone on the PWA they may as well just award him the winner before it starts.

In the winners final after a so so start he caught up to the leader Mortefon and once ahead just cruised the final.

He should be given a 5 second delayed start time minimum to make the race at least half competitive.

The others need to use smaller foils to match his speed.

His gybing is rather good as well

Not sure fins are dead yet especially for the women in strong wind.

For the men in strong winds they can still win - Goyard aside.

Footage was awesome. Perhaps add a live cam for a few sailors.

I like watching foils and fins sailing side by side so keep it as is.

If the PWA really want to limit foil use in high winds then they could limit the number of front wings to 1. At the moment they have 3 they can use and this gives so much range.

Keep the low wind limit and then racers would need to have a relatively large foil which would become too large at a point where fins would work well.

BTW Sarah-Quita said quite clearly that fin and foil are two different disciplines. As incredible as she is (well ... in competitions with six other entrants) she said she could not add foil to fin and free-style.

in the freestyle super session video it was mentioned foilstyle could enter the freestyle event too.

He didnt go to Torbole. He has just 2 wings registered at Sotavento, 475 & 360.

Yep, as PhilUK said he only registered small wings.

Fuerte list is here which has quite a few different guys on it than Torbole - nor.pwaworldtour.com/Fuerte_2023_Equipment.htm

The "THEORY" behind the gear limits does have it's merits in trying to design a tour where foiling is mostly done in lighter winds... since you can't cover 7-35 knots with 2 wings without giving too much away somewhere... so you assume that people will register light/medium foils and then have a fin setup for high winds. That's why a lot of guys in Fuerte are stuck on big foils (Nicholas Prien for example!) ... However it's hard to tackle the issue when riders come in at specific events and not the whole tour then register gear that's specific for that event only which is what Goyard has done.

Can't really expect the PWA to turn away World Cup winners who want to pick and choose events; but that's life when the riders are doing multiple racing disciplines. Probably should force everyone to register their gear at the first event whether they compete or not. Fair is fair.

That's make the performance of Johan Soe even more impressive, as he was also at Lake Garda.

The registration list is misleading when it comes to wing sizing
Lets take the time look at the list in detail....
Some brands registered sizing referring to Wing AREA EG - Phantom and F4 Riders
BUT Z Foil riders used SPAN on the registration
Goyard's small wing was 360cm2, but lets look at say Maciek's small wing 590mm SPAN = 390cm2 AREA
I will also point out that Alex Cousin registered Patrik 375cm2 wing
I feel that 360cm2 V 375cm2 V 390cm2 was a fair battle
Goyard sailed awesome, lets not take that away from him !

PS: Sadly even the event commentator was not up to speed with the facts as he said on more than one occasion that Goyard had big advantage on wing sizing

Thats a very good point. I had realised the NP foils were different as they are named after their span in cm, but didnt realise Z Fins were named in span in mm.

It doesnt help when the PWA website rules and regulations arent up to date either.
