Sure, LeeD often makes somewhat curious statements. The "loop before jibe" is not one of them. It all depends on where you sail. On a nice flat water spot in Oz,
not planing out of a jibe is hard. At many choppy spots in the US, even very good sailors don't plane out all the time, and intermediate sailors almost never. I've done plenty of 3 to 5-day camps, and if someone learns the planing jibe in 2-3 days, it's a big exception. Even then, it's just making it dry and a with a bit of speed, but not planing out.
On the other hand, I have seen at least one guy do a forward loop in moderate chop the first day he tried. I know another kid who loops but can't plane through jibes.
That LeeD was talking about some kind of duck jibe variation when he said "quad flip duckie" was quite obvious. There's plenty of people who think that planing out of a duck jibe is easier than planing out of a step jibe. Duck jibes are pretty similar to loops here: a bit easier to learn than the step jibe, but much more spectacular crashes
