I enjoyed watching it as a completely clueless newbie and still like watching it with Ben narrating as a mostly clueless aspiring intermediate. The fin/foil match in Israel was killer. A lot of people got interested in Phantom foils after that.

Speaking of local races, there's one here in the USA this weekend local to me for kite foilers, wingers, and IQFoils...

I really wish they had an open class with windfoiling in general because there are probably 5-10x as many casuals that would try for fun. I know some wingers that will, but some also don't want to pay the 100 buck registration fee.

The current era where Aprilia has got its first win, KTM have wins, control tyres etc is much better. Not a Brit in the class. At least you have Miller.

But, although Doohan did win a LOT, many of those races were very close and exciting. This was the era when I got so much enjoyment from watching MotoGP, because the racing was so close and the lead changed so many times in races.

I have to agree that the current MotoGP is very close and unpredictable, which is GREAT!

the problem with weather based sports is that they are usually too unpredictable for a broadcaster to open up the necessary time to complete the event.
Look at SailGP. the "pinnacle" of sailing with the final having 3 Aussie skippers in it and the racing didn't crack a mention.
WSL surfing doesn't get a look in either.
In fact, the only sailing that gets regular (2 hrs Annual) representation is the Sydney to Hobart, but just look at how much money is in that.
The product needs to be pre-filmed and edited for a "highlights" or "action" edit.
Remember the 18 footers in the late 80's and 90's. They used to get a show in at the lunch break on the cricket.
That's the last time i saw any type of sailing on the TV regularly
