The wind just isn't cooperating with my schedule. If there has been wind when I can get out it's been blowing at nearly gale force. This weekends forecast looks pretty good. Hopefully I can get out.

I can't see why it wouldn't handle an 8m flyer. I think the shredsled is 7ft, same as levi 160, but the SS might feel shorter as it's track is so far forward. I imagine the difference between the Levi 150 and 160 is pretty marginal

If your wingding to sailfoil is going to be 80% wing then shredsled could be good

If your ratio is more 50% sail or more I would be leaning towards wizard 130 (like dean is rocking), and keeping the levi 160 for super marginal days

Can you tell me what the Shred Sled "feels" like when wind foiling? Being much further forward, is the Sled more twitchy and kind of unpredictable? Is it harder to jibe? I am still learning to jibe and ride swell downwind.

Compared to the wizard and levitator It is much more maneuverable/sensitive to mast foot input. This increased sensitivity makes it harder to gybe, but makes it much easier to control a lifting foil. The wizard is the easiest to gybe out of the three. Shredsled is much better at riding swell than levi.

You can make the shred sled less sensitive by removing straps, and pushing mast base and foil mast as far apart as possible. Increasing that distance decreases sensitivity. I have not tried that, though as I need the security of straps. I have to give strapless another go.

Slingshot long fuse. I gave up on the short fuse for windfoiling about 2 years ago.

I finally got to take the Shred Sled out today. Wind was 14-22mph. Rigged my 4.8 Duotone Super session and installed the i84. Hit the water and got going. Had a little bit of a hard time getting it on foil, and when I did, it felt super twitchy. Didn't really like that feeling. Seemed to turn well, but again it was very twitchy and I had a hard time maintaining level-ish flight. Spent about 30 minutes on it and headed to shore to bust out my 6.4 Slingwing and my 6' Quatro wing drifter. Spent the next hour or so using that. Wind was almost not enough for me at my size and skill level yet. If I had my Levitator I'd have been on that. I really like the Levitator for the long carving turns i enjoy doing. It will ride swell pretty well too. I'm not going to be ripping turns, but hadn't ever planned on it. Thinking I'm sticking with the Levitator and a wing board. Definitely need to work on my winging skills.

After learning to windfoil on an old, long slalom board, I bought a couple of "hybrid" boards similar to your Sky SUP. I also found them quite twitchy. I had fun only in a small subset of sessions when everything was just right, while the old board was fun almost every time. I eventually gave up and bought a big, long, and wide windfoil-specific board that was tons of fun from the very first session on (a Fanatic Stringray 140).

+1 for the Fanatic Stingray 140. It is now my go-to board for freeride foiling. I weigh 195 lb. This board has the volume (140 liter) and width (85 cm) to make things pleasant with jibes and tacks. This board has weaned me off my formula board for foiling.

My other dedicated foilboard ride was 135 liter and 75 cm wide. It was a great board when up on the foil, but I swam too much with it when turning. I sold it to a friend who weighs 170 lb. It is goldilocks for him.

I did try it with my 6.4 V2 wing and the i84. That went better than wind foiling. Plenty of volume and quite stable, and it wasn't as twitchy as it was for wind foiling. I only made a few passes as I wanted to get on my Quatro and keep learning on that.
Next spring I will probably pick up the Shred sled again and try it. I'm sure it would be fine after some learning and playing with the universal joint location and maybe move the foil mast back a bit to see if that calms it down a bit.
At this point, I own the Levitator and the Quatro. I also invested in a Duotone S-pace 9.3 for really light wind, and I am certain the Shred Sled would be useless with the 9.3.

The SS is certainly more sensitive to input so I need to adjust my pumping/sail handling style quite a bit. The SS foils up very easily with the foil so forward, so less pumping is needed

I tend to push against the front side of both straps so it might work.

Hoping foam blocks and grippy shoes like Vibram 5 Fingers will get close to the functionality of footstraps without the downside

Is the 7m flyer you refer to a wing or a windsurf sail?
With my Sky sup I'm working on the theory of trying to spread the sail mast and the foil mast as far apart as possible to try in reduce sensitivity while I learn. Does that sound like the right thing to do? Open to suggestions.
( I'm using an Axis 75 mast and S series 750 front wing)

Sail, I have not tried winging yet. Yes you are on the right track by spreading sail mast and foil as far apart as possible, but you will have to adjust your foot position accordingly The leverage of mast base pressure and your center of mass needs to be offset by the lift of the foil, so if you find you are unable to fly then you obviously need to move your feet back or scoot the foil forwards. As you get better you will want to gradually shorten that distance.

Prototype 1. I don't expect this foam to hold up, but it's all i had. I have a couple of EVA yoga blocks on order. These are 9x4. I think the 9x6 yoga brick should work better.

This foot strap concept sounds familiar, I remember many discussions about this in this forum. I never have any luck searching this forum and I could not find it, perhaps some one else can dig it up. It may help because it documented the process of someones protos like yours to a much more refined product. By the way Huston Kiteboarding hooked me up with a great deal on a shred sled and I wll be rocking one soon. I already have plans to put some inserts in for forward straps a bit further off centerline.

I would love to put in some new inserts too, but I have never done it. Make a record of how you do it, and maybe I can do the same. I would suggest about 3-5 inches further back than the winging straps.

prototype 2 is a carved out yoga block. After I put my foot in, i don't think it would work on the water. I need the foot a bit more lateral.

prototype 3 is basically a knock off of the blue planet one linked above. I hope to try it today. I cut about 1.5 off the end of a yoga block.

This didn't work so great. So am gonna try the slingshot version off half straps with shims. I didn't care too much for the dakine halfstraps so we will see how these go

Dude! you are killing it. I am reluctantly considering giving the strapless thing another go on the SS, but your video has given me quite a bit of inspiration to master the strapless thing.

What were your mast track and foil track settings?
