I think my wife stopped waxing. Just the shave now.....

Wax - I do a light top-up every surf.

Q: How often should your wife do a complete strip and wax for your viewing pleasure?
A1: Depends how hot your wife is.
A2: I'd say every second month after you have taught your wife how to strip wax off a board and re-wax to your liking.
A3: Depends how much you surf a particular board.
A4: Depends how much black wetsuit marks you can handle in your wax.
A5: - The real answer : Probably every 12 months or so, at least. I have a large assortment (of broads, I mean boards), so I probably only get around to it ever 18-24 months. But it should be every 12...

- Doggie, yes you probably go for fresh wax more often, but it is heaps easier to do a shorty... strip & re-wax of a longy is a bit of a mission actually !!

When I rode mals - completely stripped it off every 3mths and touched up any worn areas weekly - and never ever wax-combed a board cos that is the biggest wank IMO.
I do though now still wax the nose on every sup I ride.

I wondered if anyone would pick that up. He has the dirtiest wax ever, it's a stolen quote for sure

The gayest thing you ever see is perfectly neat wax or even worse the perfect little circles for the front foot.... WHAT IS THAT??? Don't you move your feet???

I thought that too..... Combing wax is great if you are lazy like me and need to remove some of the build up or if its melted in the car a bit.

Some people get a little carried away with particulars eh? Just make sure it's not slippery...... Geeez.

I agree CMC. 100%. Just make it sticky! I like Sex Wax Purple for most of the year down here... It's pretty tacky even in the coldest winter water.

Plus, 1 board 1 was job !
I've only sold a hand full of boards... bad habit of collecting... Most boards were only into their 2nd fresh coat.

i combed some wax the other day...didn't have any wax in the car and the board was getting slippery... combing is awesome.... sometimes scratch the board with my nails while surfing on the main pressure spots too

I disagree. I much prefer a landing strip. I also like the chick to mix it up a bit - makes you think its someone else.........variety is the spice of life

I like to wax my board lightly before each surf....if I have some in the car and its not too soft. The wax comb is a useful tool if you do a CMC and melt it in yr car or you have no wax or your wax job needs to be replaced.....I try to avoid though if I can as you then end up with your wax sticking to your wetsuit - although maybe you Queenslanders do not have to worry about wetsuit issues as much as those of us in the south.

Every surf that I have wax in the car, if not then whenever I buy some, could be weeks sometimes, I just usually buy 5 at a time and throw them in the car as needed. As for dewaxing, whenever it looks filthy or melts in the sun, probably once a year, usually do it when I'm away or something, hate getting rid of the old wax out of the grass.

And landing strip

I use orange sex wax for most of the year and I lightly wax before most surfs, I don't strip & re-wax on any sort of a schedule, just when it's looking really dirty.

And I guess I must be a wanker because I do comb occasionally when the wax is looking a tad glassy.

Oh, almost forgot, I always have a back sack and crack just before MardiGras

How far forward do you wax the board? See videos of people grabbing the front of the board with one arm and dipping down into the water under a wave. If I tried that it would be ripped out of my hand. Are you relying on the leg rope also to hold the board?

9 foot board wax it all,I've never had a board rip out of my arms but hey I'm super human and letting your leggie do the work should be your last resort, now you are venturing into dangerous ground.
