Whos keen to do the Woopi comp on 6/7 November ? We have already entered but as there's also a teams event would be good to put in a breeze team. Its a great weekend and usually either held at Arrawarra Headland or Mullawarra Beach.

I was possibly going to be there either that weekend or the last one in October.

Not sure about the idea of a comp.

I could possibly be the only person to ever exit the water after a comp with a zero wave count.

Do they have a division for an old guy with a very dicky back Just stuffed it again an hour ago

Practice smactice !! I've been off mals for nearly 3 years and I am still gunna have a crack - what the hell. Its a pretty casual comp' and really just an excuse for a weekend of b/s, beer and bbqs. I reckon if we can put a four man team together we will be a force to be reckoned with Hell we may not win but they are sure gunna remember us hey

Yeah BB....I was there last year, a good relaxed feeling there, should be a good time.....looking forward to it............

So what is so good about this place do you camp in tents how good is the surf

I actually went to a woopi longboarders event about 10 or 12 years ago as a spectator.

I remember meeting Billy Tollhurst there.

I can vouch for the fact that the real event is usually the BBQ and pissup, the surfing is simply the excuse they need to do it.

ya been away for a while working, just had 2 weeks break on Nusa Lembongan visiting friends and kicking back, back to the grindstone next week, really not looking forward to it

doggie me being me and thinking I can left a tank,well that was until I tried today and FAILED the back just went ping,which does happen from time to time its an old footy injury,one of many,ankles,knee which as thommo said flared up on the dance floor back in May and still hurts some days,neck surf injury and brain damage from the Bundy Bear

ya been away for a while working, just had 2 weeks break on Nusa Lembongan visiting friends and kicking back, back to the grindstone next week, really not looking forward to it

We had a great time there, jumped on a fishing boat 10 on board with four longboards dam tight and the two Johnson 20 house haha horses were on full steam.We stayed at Coco's overlooking shipwreck which we surfed every day,ate toasted sandwiches for breakfast lunch and tea all washed down with a Bing'y
Such a great place to relax and keep the wife from shops

Oh dear what have I done this time,oh on one mestake

We stay at Mr Agung`s , just next to where you were, in front of Shippies, pretty basic but he`s a good person and goes out of his way to look after you,he even stays up till you get home at night, lol,

The comp is generally held at Mullawarra but Arrawarra if there are any waves there. The two spots are only a coupla hundred metres apart. There is heaps off accom' in Woolgoolga (woopi) - less than 5 minutes from the comp site (motels/caravan park/holiday houses etc)
We are renting a house at the headland for 10 days so if anyone gets really really stuck they can throw a sleeping bag on the floor for a coupla nights on the weekend (any longer and I am officially dead and divorced apparently)
Its a pretty easy 3.5hr drive from Palmy and thats allowing for a wee stop in Ballina and Sth Grafton.
If the comp is on the point it will be small to medium, fat and cruisey waves over a mix of reef/sand and lotsa fun. If its held at Mullawarra (hope it is) it will be typical beach break conditions - and loads of fun.
Its a magic spot and there is always a wave somewhere close by. The standard of surfing is very very mixed and ranges from very average surfers to aussie title holders (older ones though).
Its a must do.

If you're getting there from Sydney, it can be done in 6 hours but I would not recommend it.

Plan for 8 hours and enjoy the drive, better still, plan for 10 and stop for a surf along the way.

I always pitch a tent because I'm on my own and I've been doing it for almost 50 years. This time of year Woopi beach would be about $27 a night, Darlington Park would be $21 and Corindi Beach about the same as Darlington.

I did once stay overnight at Mullaway Cabins, it was very cheap but they were very rough.

My only problem with staying in a tent is that I promised myself that I would never go there again without my 10ft board and it does not stow in my car so I guess I'll either be guarding it or stowing it up at my mates place if I'm not using it.

Yep a 10fter is definately handy if the point is the comp site. You are more than welcome to leave boards at our place if you want as we are only about 50mtrs from the point and mullawarra sites.
