Canadian Girls killing it in the moguls and slopestyle. Canada the outright medal leader for the first time in history. Pretty damn proud right now. But yes the conditions are sketchy. The pipe is not right and the slopestyle jumps are too big for how soft the snow is. Even with a warm wax and a deep base texture the girls still couldnt get enough speed to make the tranny.

No i haven't as I am off to bed as a general rule before they hit the screens. I am not surprised that they are still giving it to us. I recall in the Sydney Olympics just after I arrived here they just gave it to us non stop as it took forever for us to get a medal! I imagine its more of the same Well done Torah indeed

Not showing off just know a wee bit about skis and snowboards as I have been using them since I was 2 and was a sales rep for K2 for a while. Just like you guys know a lot about surfboards and I know jack squat. Congrats to Torah even though she annoys the hell out of me.

How's Mitch's commentary. He's a local boy so good to see him getting some air time.

Commentating Shaun white he had a great call.

If Shaun doesn't win gold he'll be more disappointed than when billy ray saw the wrecking ball film clip..

Yes well said LL. I was just having a laugh at how well the Canadians were doing relative to NZs poor performance to date and Australia's at that stage! As SP said Roy and HG have been giving us **** as well!! I once had a set of K2 skis myself. Would loved to have started on the mountain at 2 - I was a teen before I hit the slopes.

Hows the footage at the moment - Skeleton one second then mens slope style the next !!!!! Loving this.

ted, i was a ski nut. it got to the stage where i couldn't really improve much without doing the year round thing plus it was all getting more and more expensive. at that stage i discovered 666 ing. haven't been skiing since- must be 5 years now

Yes Lacey, old hat now but great skis. Super stiff and fun. 90mm in the wasit is considered all mtn now. I had a set of those put about 300 days on them and they were still going strong.

This was my last set. I loved them 189cm with lots of rocker, wicked for pow.

yeah, at that time there were a lot more powder type skis around, but mojo 90's i could go on everything.

i never got to try those cambered skis. saw a few sets in japan last time i was there which was the last time i skied - looked like a lot of fun

maybe i should try and get down this year. it would be interesting after the stand up skinny race boards- they way we work the rails

What you have is cambered.

You want to try reverse camber or rockered as they say. They are amazing in pow but not as good in groomers. I love tip rocker with a bit of tail rocker but not to much. 105-110 waist width..yyeewwwwww

What I would do for some steep tree runs right now...

sorry that's what i meant. they do look strange.

i was always more interested in a nice rebound in my skis. something that would flex with out warping out and come back nicely. thats easy said then done.

cheers

That why I like the tip rocker only. It still gives you the benefit in the pow but then you can rail them on the groomers and lay out some big carves. Oh can you tell I like to talk about skiing!!!

A CHINESE skater did a Steven Bradbury to win gold at the Winter Olympics short track speed skating.

Li Jianrou trailed her three rivals ? Elise Christie of Great Britain, Arianna Fontana of Italy and Park Seung-hi of South Korea ? in the 500m final before things quite literally fell her way to hand her an Olympic gold medal.

While it wasn?t an exact replica of Bradbury?s famous win in 2002 (the crash that delivered him victory came on the final turn, while Jianrou?s stroke of luck came with four laps to go), her win was remarkably similar.

Christie caused the carnage when she clipped Fontana when the pair were in second and third place.

Park almost escaped unscathed but then inexplicably fell and slid into the side of the rink, allowing Jianrou to cruise past and eventually win by six seconds.

Bradbury?s win in the 1000m in Salt Lake City made him the first athlete in history from the southern hemisphere to claim a Winter Olympics gold medal. It made him a household name in Australia and, in a sign it was meant to be, came after the same thing happened in his semi-final race.

she was easily the best aerialist with that jump. had so much time to nail the landing but kept her legs stiff for some reason.

she lost the gold medal. the aerialist gods turned their back on her. a real shame

True but she can hold her head high. They reckon if she had taken a less aggressive approach she might well have won as her jump to make it into the final would have won it for her. She wanted to go big and land the jump that no other women has ever done in competition and was so close. Utmost respect from me.
