Nah no issue with the board. It's ridden nice with any number of combos, except 2+1. Don't think I had that set up quite right.

Just trying to figure out what to try next with the twins, mostly indecision on my part and crap waves to get any real feel for it.

We can't all live in Bali or Qld.

Nah I'll let the board speak for itself. If nothing else it will give me a datum to work from.

Gave the fins a crack yesterday.

Mmmmm not so sure. Tried a few different positions and no sweet spot.

Locked the board up too much with the trailer. Small mushy waves don't help either.

Got frustrated and pulled it off and ran with pure twin setup.

Transformed instantly, faster zippier, was more responsive in the less than amazing conditions.

The CJet rides best for me as a twin or quad. I really liked the feel and grip of the cheap MODII twins, might get a decent set of trailers to run a semi quad and see how the affects her in bigger water.

I'm starting to get the feel from it that will suit the style of surfing I want. Think Torren flow but a lot less snap.

Holding a line on the lip and dropping into the bottom to build speed and line up for a cutback.

All I need are the waves to complete that dream.

Has anyone tried a large set of twins like these on a mid length?

I really like the look of these but apparently too much load for the twin tab base FCS.

Lots of fin options.
Took it for a run in lazy 2'ers this morning.
Paddles and catches waves great and turns easier than any midlength I've owned.

Looking at that hull form it is almost identical to the Wombat / CJet. Nice nose concave graduating into a double exist and slight vee. Rail shape are hardness looks very similar as well with the main difference being the rounded pin vs. the square on mine and a very slight double channel either side of the main box.

Those Sanctums look meaty, by that I mean big. Would give you pivot and holding power all in one package.

Do they flex out a bit much and release? Or do they hold and give a nice little kick when they spring back?

Damn shame they don't do them in a twin tab. Still I'm very impressed with the MODII set I got, but when I dropped into a backhand hollow the would hold then slide, grab, hold then slide again, just need a little more bite to them whilst still giving the nice pivot.

I'm toying with the Sanctum micro biters as trailers or leaders depending on the holding power I need.

When its only small they are just giving a nice carvey feel. Waves were full and soft so no instances of hold and release as I was just doing take off fades and minor cutbacks with floaters and trimming across dead spots. I will probably pick up a set of their quad trailers from Sanctum and one of those trailers that fit in the single box as well soon.
Looks to be 4-5' waves on offer by this coming weekend so may order them soon to get them before then.
I have plenty of other fin options to run anyway.
Christenson quad set. K2 keels. 2+1 set up.
The twins were so loose and fun though.

Yeah noticed that with the MODII twins, gutless waves that where essentially wind breaking mush and I was still able to punch it up into mush floaters. Not a lot of drive in them so you really needed to work with what you had from the wave, given the skinny profile not really surprised on the drive, not a lot of foil there to give much lift and forward motion.

Was thinking that some slightly thicker foiled trailers might give it a bit more squirt from lift generated.

If there was one thing that I could change in my board it would be to have a swallow tail. Still I could hack one in if I really wanted, would only be a fairly shallow one but I reckon it would make a bit of difference.

One last question Cuttlefish, have you ever ridden any of your mids with the trailers forward and the twin trailing, kinda like a twinzer but without the exact proximity of the fins to each other?

I'm short on coin so I'm going to refoil the plastic 4" fins supplied by SBWH down to the same profile as the micro bites and have a crack at them in different setup's.

Twins with stabilisers, forecast 2m swell tomorrow so hopefully I can give it a decent bash.

I would adjust that template and give them more of a refined tip so that they will release rather than be purely rudders.

Gets done a fair bit. Not hard at all, but then you have to start collecting a new fin library. FCSII might be a better bet as FCS still fit them.

Cheers cuttlefish, thinking I'll have a crack at them with the same shape as the Sanctums first. If they don't do it for me then I'll take to them with the grinder again.

Besides they are significantly smaller than the rears I was using my in quad setup, and they felt good.

BTW that's bluemetal not grass, unless I'm missing some sort of joke? Them it's the most neglected, weed out nfested, dog trampled lawn that exists.

Yeah checked it out on the tube. Just to want a single in front of existings to play with placement or maybe run a skeg triple tab.

What an absolute ripper the twins with stabilisers are.

Likely had some of the best waves of my life and the board performed flawlessly with this fin set up.

Great hold and an awesome flow to it. I can't throw it around like Beau Young but I had a blast.

Twins / quads are awesome if you perserve and dial in the right ones.

Mostly for explanation of the fin types used, not really your normal quad sizes hey.

But for the purists it's a quad, just a different type of quad setup.

So Chrispy what if I now change things up for tomorrows surf and put the micro bites at the front and the twins at the back?

Is that a Quad, Twinzer, or a Bonzer?

And what if I then put in a stabilizer? Is that a twin with micros and a stabiliser? Or a Quad with a stabilizer? Or a Twinzer or a Bonzer with a stabiliser?

Aren't Twins with stabilisers tri's?

I wouldn't want to get it wrong just in case you need to keep hitting your head

Maybe you could help out and give us all a clear definition of all the different fin arrangements and their terminologies?

As a young fella I would collect paddle pop sticks and make things, I made a set of twin fins once. Unfortunately things got out of hand collecting anything.
