What an absolute ripper the twins with stabilisers are.
Likely had some of the best waves of my life and the board performed flawlessly with this fin set up.
Great hold and an awesome flow to it. I can't throw it around like Beau Young but I had a blast.
Twins / quads are awesome if you perserve and dial in the right ones.
Bahahaha twins with stabilisers, really ?
Funny as i always thought four fins in a board was a quad
Things you learn...palm hitting forehead

Yeah would think the same.
Mostly for explanation of the fin types used, not really your normal quad sizes hey.
But for the purists it's a quad, just a different type of quad setup.
So Chrispy what if I now change things up for tomorrows surf and put the micro bites at the front and the twins at the back?
Is that a Quad, Twinzer, or a Bonzer?
And what if I then put in a stabilizer? Is that a twin with micros and a stabiliser? Or a Quad with a stabilizer? Or a Twinzer or a Bonzer with a stabiliser?
Aren't Twins with stabilisers tri's?
I wouldn't want to get it wrong just in case you need to keep hitting your head

Maybe you could help out and give us all a clear definition of all the different fin arrangements and their terminologies?
P.S just messin with ya.
Nothing you do will turn it into a bonzer. Bonzer is the the sum of its parts not just a fin set up.
What are the fin measurement like on the CJet, they seem pretty far forward and near the rails for a twin?
Thanks SP, already knew that, just trying to be as pedantic as chrispy

Don't have the dimensions but they are the same as the Wombat MKII and align with a number of other similar designs.
MOE is roughly the same locations where as the fitz Cosmic Twin is lower and narrower. To mount my twins in a similar position I would simply need to install a couple of new plus to fit the purple outline.

Had a rippa surf yesterday in 1 + 1/2 times head height faces running the Quad set up, twins at the front and the micro bites rear.
Started todays session with the same but the wave height had dropped down to chest / head height, the quads seemed too stiff for the size so I pulled them out, shoved them in my pocket, and ran with the twins.
I really do like it with the twins best, especially in the wave type here which is a peaky beach break that peels away fast. Any other setup and I've got to drop for a full bottom turn and by then the face has run away with the party. The twins allow me to instantly swing the tail around to engage the rail on take off and blast across the face.
I was making sections that thrusters, mals, singles and others could not, so I was able to sit inside a bit deeper and further out to pick off the best rides.
With the board volume and length I can also pick the swell up very quickly, even compared to a couple of guys on 6'8" MacT mids.
One of them was blown away at the paddle power in the Cjet, we where both hitting the same wave with me inside and out back. He came in thinking that I was not going to pick it up and had to pull back hard as I zipped in under him. I was a good 20' further out than him as well.
If there was a couple of things I could change on it now that I've gotten to know her better I would change the rail profile from the nose back to about 40%. Slightly thinner, starting with a beveled edge at the front and transitioning to the current shape in the middle. And maybe take out 4 to 5 L of foam to suit my weight better and make duck diving a little more productive. Damn I'd forgotten just how taxing it is to sink 50L wave after wave when caught inside. I would rather contend with a 500m point paddle.
Mid rail to tail I would thin out a little as well to make it a bit easier to lay her over. Still that's mostly me not getting forceful enough with her.
Lastly I would also like to have a swallow tail, not because it needs it for any other fin setup other than a twin, but because I run the twin I think it would give some added bite. Will experiment with a single stabiliser next to see if that feels good, if not out comes the hack saw.
And lastly I'd like some futures boxes in place of the FCS plugs so that I can run the same fins as Cuttlefish, super jealous of his ride.
And sorry Mac I'm singing the praises of the pop out again. Is it the perfect board? No.
But for the price paid it's helping me define exactly what I think will work for me when I can afford a custom. I even seem to have earned some respect from the branded crew, in the last couple of days they have seen what I can do on a pop out and it's got them curious enough to pull me up and have a look at the Cjet. And yes they can see things that could be improved as well to suit them if they rode it.
