It took me 25 years to get back into it and let me tell you it sure improves your surfing. From paddle power to riding its makes a world of difference,I look at each training session as this is going to improve my surf fitness and boy I needed it,I've dropped 8 or 9 kgs and it makes a massive difference,no more rum and coke just maybe 8 stubbies over the weekend I'm human after all and far from perfect.

Anyone thinking about training DO IT hard for an hour a day 6 days a week, eat and live clean and see for yourself.4 weeks and you will start feeling like a teenager again.

Weights hard and fast little to no rest between sets maybe 30 seconds,I see people there for over an hour most of the time is spent chattingI really cleaned my food intake up it was very poor,I could smash a family packet of chips in two minutes now I hate the sight of them.

Now if I have three beers I'm half cut,not a bad thing really.

the burpees if you you do them will screw your pop up ... you'll find yourself getting up feet together facing fwd and then jump up hand in the air hahahha

If you train your eating habits will become more healthy naturally. Nobody wants to bust their ass to the point opf passing out and then go get a Big Mac. The more you train the better you eat as you dont want to waste the excersize you did. Its a win win!

That being said beer is still delicious.

I agree totally. After my near drowning incident i went out and got fit. I have dropped 20 kilos and feel better than ever.

I am careful as i am 41 but i also train to keep strong and prevent injury. (if that makes sense). I really love Chris Mills surf strength coach. Someone on here recommended it

Anyway have a team entered into Tough mudder in Oct, cant wait

You know your obsessed though when for my birthday today i got a medicine ball from the kids

That is the beauty of crossfit and other training programs similar. You see the really strong guys and they are not big. You train to become strong and the conditioning excersizes are great. I have a love/hate with wall balls.

Training and diet makes a huuuuge difference out on the water .

Gave up rum for a week and even that little sacrifice made a big difference .

Local lifesavers tell me out in the ocean is not the place to get fit .

Trouble is at the end of the day after working / surfing / chasing around after kids , it takes a hell of a lot of motivation to jump on the gym set and not into the fridge for a coldie

Firstly, she has great genes.
But to train like that, requires someone really special. Amazing athlete, Thanks for the vid.
I did 4 chin ups this morning. What a wimp.

You could throw in some yoga to avoid getting to muscle bound and inflexible, a couple of rounds of salute the sun each day will help.

that's a good way to go Mac with the fast weights BUT dont let them get to heavy or you'll risk straining yourself

Another hour session complete.

Doing legs is the biggest fat burner.

Weiry I mean fast 30 second rest between sets not fast movement.

would kill me to even at the fittest part of my life. mac i think its great your into it. but when you get bored of the gym come and see me about a ___-.

that girl is amazing. strenght to body weight is unreal, like young gymnasts.

if she fills out it will get harder for her thou.

i read somewhere that the top guys just grip timber beams with a finger on one slide and thumb on the other from underneath and do chin ups. i find that really had to get my head around

i also read the best will slap at rock and use the surface tension to lift themselves if there are no holds.
