Not sure if this subject has been setup before.

Obviously with a lot of shapers out there, it is hard to know if they provide quality boards or they are just in it to make $$. I understand most shapers start out because it is their passion but some lose focus along the way. So let's get behind the good ones in this thread.

My question is, does anyone know anything about Stewart Maxwell from Maximum Surfboards?

I have had multiple boards off Tom Hoye, Mark Ogram and Al Bean - all local South West shapers. Haven't had any dogs, but a couple that didn't do what I wanted. Two boards from 16 isn't a bad hit ratio.

I had one off Matt Manners years ago, but never went back for some reason despite the board doing exactly what I wanted (2-4 foot beachies).

Never had a Marty Littlewood, Dave Macaulay, Boyd Purdy or Nathan Rose. Two of those guys don't appear to do shapes that appeal to me - no need for names as they all have their fan base - and two I have just never been too.

Sorry couldn't help it.

No bad feelings ment by it, just read that bit and had a chuckle to myself, as I was dreaming of all the big mansions they live in and the flash cars most of them would be driving.

But yes I am a fan of my local shapers with my last 15 or so boards all made here in QLD

Stewie is one of the old school, hand shapers who does his own glassing as well. See quite a few of them of them around, he has a built up a few stock boards in his shop.

Disclaimer / pimp alert - he does a very good ding repair at a good price

hahahahah. im not fussy about where a logo goes whether its a mr, cw, dhd or my only Australian company but overseas made popout.

its all about how they go.

I leave that stuff up to the makers who ever they are.

as you said- don't want to hold up production.

.

I wont spar with you if this is all you can come up with
