It had been only eight weeks since I last put my feet on a UFO.
Today was launch day for the new improved spaceship.

The rocket felt thin under arm as I carried it to the lift off pad.

I paddled out and straight away it felt like a mal function was in
the making, yes it floated and paddled well but something felt a
miss.

As I sat in the line up it still felt weird, the first sign of take off was
when this bomb set came in from nowhere, keeping in mind it was small
here today,it was 2 foot so I turned and paddled for the wave it still felt
weird, bang up to my feet I go and off we go,now its really feeling weird.
I go for the first turn and bang off I go,what fk was that I said to myself.
I paddle back out and bang catch another,go for the first turn and made it
but the board was like riding a shortboard on ice it was nuts,By this stage I'm
thinking maybe I've dropped a fin so I check, nope all in,man this this is weird.
I keep at it for an hour and the board sucks, well for my anyway,I've owned 4
UFO's and hands down they are the best board I have ever ridden.I'm not to happy
at this stage, having just surfed the Redline and feeling good at how I surfed it I figured this UFO and I are done,I've never hated a board in such a short period.

So my experiment failed as Chrispy said I'm a F***Wit.
So what does a man do,he gets on the phone and orders another UFO,this time the same as my last with no MAC involvement on the rails.

This board is just to refined for a bloke of my size and would be a ripper for the lighter weight guy,the problem I found was it took just the slightest bit of movement and the board would turn,I like to use my body to drive the board.

Ok now I know I'm in for some serious Sh-t from you guys

Actually one quick suggestion, not telling you how to suck eggs or anything... But what about bigger side fins, more length in the base, they will be harder to push but might give you a bit more hold so you can drive through it a bit more..

Good Idea which would help but its got more to do with the rails imo.

No don't stress mate all my other ufo's were great boards, the first two were square tails the next were the standard pins like your uf8,they rip ,tear mate,it was my doing on this one, playing with things that should have been left to the experts.

Did you come up with the artnice

yeah mac, had my share for sure. keep ya chin up i'm with you on the board is too loose bit.

i don't go really loose boards at all. i look more for drive in a board.

i'm running my board with shapers s9's side and a jm centre fin.

last sunday afternoon i put sunnies in for a try. well, i caught one wave and came straight in. the board was all over the place. way too loose and not going anywhere

I just knew you would be a good shoulder the cry on nah all good mate.As you said way too loose and all over the place,as fin replacement wouldn't fix this wild child, the rails are like a 80 kg young gun would be riding.

mate because the mcts have a lot of lift in the last foot of board you need a larger centre fin to allow for this other wise they just slide around if you push too hard.also wait till the surf gets up a bit in size.I never rode my hi rocker boards up there even when it was 4 to 6 foot the first week up there. The waves to me are just not strong enough to ride a high rockered mal.The fire ball rocker is ideal for the waves up there thats all I used.Still luv ya Tank.

seriously mac,if I lived up there and I liked mct boards, all I would have is a 9foot 4 fireball with a pulled in nose and a small squash end tail glassed 6x6x4.It would paddle great, have good drive, still throw it around and would go good in 1 foot or 6 foot plus point waves.Oh I forgot plus a bumper bar crowd control.

Pinched the art of my son's paddle board. I am so unimaginative.

I didn't have much input into design other than dimensions and wanted the UF8 receipe that I have heard so much about. I not some of the stock boards have a slight bevel on the rails (not as much as a Carver) but on mine it is sanded out. Yet to see how it goes.

Thanks Champ, I have actually heard that before and will be taking more than 1 board. I just don't have a high rockered board ATM so wanted one.
