The reason I wear one is fear of being in the wrong place at the wrong time - seen enough evidence over the years. I think it can happen to anyone.

I've been wearing mine Ted . I copped a whack in the head from my own board a few months back and need to totally cover my head as well so i reckon a helmet is a better option than a hat.

Looks like RC is lucky to be with us, would be interested to know what/how it happened , only so others don't make same mistake , Ps his drop knee turn is wicked , helmet is not a bad idea , does it affect your sense of balance with ears covered....?

Good has nothing to do with it if you are in the wrong place or you flick off and a big set is rearing its head behind you or you make a mistake and fall - all easily done!

Even JOB mentioned on Insta this morning that he was scared yesterday whilst catching the biggest waves of his life

That happened to both me an MR. On separate occasions at Arra, big rouge bomb came from nowhere.

ripped my board right out of my hands and kept me in the foam ball for one of the longest hold downs I've ever had. Came up gasping for air and stinking of sh!t.

luckily I was well out on the shoulder.

I asked the mct guys what happened, apparently Ray was entering the water from way up the point, jumped off the rocks and got cleaned up,his board looks like its been run over but a mack truck.
