Mate around Newcastle all rounder type Boards tend to suit more. What I mean is a HP type board but volumed up a bit. We have short peaky beachies. So IMO you want something with some width in the nose, flattish rocker, to get into them early.
then some tail rocker so it will turn in relatively small radius. Hard edged rails in the tail too. Loggish rails don't really suit.

2+1 is a good idea, it gives you the option of a single, which suits sometimes when it is small and fat. Something around 9-10 inch, dolphin style will work but that Doesn't mean you can't run it as a thruster when it's a bit bigger or suckier, just get one of those FCS fin adapter things.

But the best idea is to have a chat to a few shapers and tell them what you want..

@weiry.. Thanks will have a look at them.

Sp that's why I use the Jackson's,small and fat,I get heaps of drive but way more maneuverable than a 2+1, bigger and cleaner I go a normal shorty setup. Try it mate you will not regret it. Oh you can still get to the nose as well. But yes a good shaper will do all that for ya.....even try tollhurst and Mr Goddard, they are nit that far away from you guys

Yep im keen....

the fins i have are about the same length base (116mm) but a bit shorter in height than the jacksons (125vs133mm).

But What is the centre fin? Is it from Shapers?

the fins on chrispys board have less rake.......more pivot.....chrispy would it be fair to say the drive comes from the base width.

SP the centre is from Shapers, yet my smaller merrick or even my Slater centre go.so.good with the big sides.
Today was a good example, small gutless waves,a single would have been good......but my setup is way better imo.
Just so easy to turn, you really notice on how quick and tight you can do cutbacks. My hp went better fun wise than the few log type out there today just going straight...
Weiry.....being a bum has improved my paddling ability
