I know this discussion has been done to death, but I keep looking at the video clips on the McT website and I am fighting an urge to get a log.

I am assuming that is what those guys in the clips are riding. 9'6 flat rockered, catch waves easy, point and trim with plenty of speed. It would be so different to what I have now and every long board I have owned previously which has been more high performance.

McT has a Neo on sale at the moment so this is the chance for anyone to talk me out of it

Danelli! Don't do it..... Don't be seduced by those McT blokes..... Just more mass produced boards for the newly coiffed wannabe hipsters.....or boat shoe wearers...

Go visit your local Tugun shaper and have a look at what he has to offer in the way of classy logs that give you a point of difference and a great ride to boot.

Oh, make sure it's over 10 feet. 10'1" ought to do it......

Let me clarify, I'm not specifically suggesting any particular board as I have no experience with any form of log, merely just saying try which ever one takes your fancy as theres only one way of knowing if its your thing or not.

10ft ?? Problem is I am not sure if it is a log that I am craving or just a big ass cruiser that I can take to LM and dominate. Maybe even a Tuffy that will catch the ripples of the passing fishing boats. I'm not really into nose riding, but I love trim on flat rockered board.

Logs are to one dimensional unless you are a super talented rider imo. Have a crack on Boofy 10ft board. I did and wished I owned it. There was no wave I could not catch at knee high lm. Or have a burl on Macs one. Then have a crack on a log. You will give yourself a uppercut for even considering The idea.

Since all the hipsters are now riding logs I hope you are still young, fit and less than 70 kgs ringing wet or you may not be dominating them on a similarly sized board.

If I was to buy a log I would make it a super log something like big spazz 12 footer I took a mates 12 foot triple string Robert August log up to LM a couple of weeks ago for some ripple riding and trimming and had an absolute ball on it. It was so forgiving and I could paddle into anything on it much to the disgust of everyone else surfing there

Logs are good I reckon if you have unlimited funds and room so you can have one in the quiver.....also if you live in front of a super long point break. Otherwise what he said ^^^^

When we finally get together for a surf up that way at Lm I will bring the big 12 footer you can paddle in on it flick to your feet before the wave even looks like getting some shape

Mac! I don't hate McT, just like to be a bit outside the mainstream.......... Mate just bough a second hand 9 foot fireball for $400, with a bag and leash, he loves it, but now has to surf about 20 meters away from us

Don't worry Daneli, just get something that's going to look good under your arm...... smile FARKING

Your right. Had an epic session at LM on Sun. The new SDR midlength went unbelievably well. I went back to Steve with my last board and said I want the next one to go faster and still be loose. DELIVERED !!

This Friday I am ordering a 9'6 SDR flat rockered HP. Sorry but the log idea is now just kindling for the fire.

Curious about the design of a flat rocker HP board? Be interesting to see what Steve comes up with.
