If it has holes and is leaking just use emerclad and fibreglass mesh.
If ya know a good glasser.

It looks like it might crack in some spots, plus tin looks heaps better

Its not leaking yet so I might leave it for a while.

There isn't much weight in timber battens and steel roof sheeting and it is spread evenly over entire roof anyway. Judging by the photo each roof sheet would be approx 2m long so should only require batten at the ridge, one at the end (near gutter) and one in the centre ( battens only need to be 1m centres). Would save you sh1tloads of $$$ and your health.
Is the roof members steel as well i.e. trusses ?

Don't even go there Doggie, get someone in to to get rid of that sh!t
My grandad passed after painting his roof from rubbing back/scratching the surface to clean it up and put down some good paint (now it coulda been the paint or the asbestos) back in the day it wasn't as big a safety thing then.
I wouldn't fricken touch the stuff.

Hahaha, na not really, I use the iPad heaps so a lot are links with IMG tags, wish I had more of them saved. I had a heap saved and the Damn thing crashed , so I lost heaps of them....
