Dazzler, I think 8 foot is about the limit for a 3 fin Thruster. At 9 ft, I think Box Single Fin plus side biters is the go.

I like the drive from the bigger single fin. Side fins just enhance the turns, without too much drag when Trimming, etc.

I think 3 fins are designed to be virtually always turning.

Try my set up grom man then give me your opinion. You will not lose drive but you will get way more loose in the tail, all controlled. The 2+1 is dying
Now people are trying New fin set ups the open mined folk are having there minds changed to something that is not so outdated.

Hey Chrispy,

What's the spacing between your fins? Centre of the sidebites to centre of the middle, please?

My thoughts are if your going to ride a thruster, or 3 fins similar size the spacing needs to be closer to a thruster spacing, whereas a 2+1 will behave more like a single as the middle gets bigger and sides smaller the middle fin can be closer to the sides.

Any one else have any thoughts? I could be completely wrong... Or it might just be what I like, interested in others thoughts.

I will.do a.simgromdo.soon. I am heading down your way sp in th. The next month. . You can use the board if ya take me for a wave

Gladly mate, let me know when you are down.

Funny Lacey!

I've done my notes list for the Ocassional Pin. 14 bullet points (SIC - little joke for Lacey! ) for an even better review!
I'll post this one in HD too. Takes about 20 minutes to upload instead 5 mins in Standard Def /SD.

Will do it tomorrow...

Wait for my next video review!

Simply, thruster is deemed to be 3 fins the same size.
Side bites are obviously the smaller side fins when used with a larger boxed single fin!

I have generally ridden a 2 + 1, however on the recent east swell we had I rode a 9'1 channel bottom thruster with a heap of tail lift. Allowed me to take a drop on my back hand and drive it off the bottom. It was very very lively to say the least!!

I can see Santa bringing a board very similar in December.

One of my mates has a selection of Dick Brewer guns and they are thrusters.
