Yes - my McT Fireball Evo is about 3yrs old and has very obviously gone yellow. Mines a GSI SLX construction. When not in the water I keep it in a board cover and inside the house (not a hot shed or garage).

I wouldn't worrry too much - it just adds character and does not affect board performance at all.

This forum has some real negative and nasty people ,which ****s me and a hell of a lot of others, just saying and that's not directed at you ted.

No worries Mac - not sure where they come from. I know McT use the good stuff. I was just having a laugh at yr expense there and giving CMC a pat on the back at the same time! Also I might just have a new Firewire in my car that will be christened shortly Yeooooowww. I love the technology and design ideas / principles that some of the board makers are now adopting. I think its bodes well for the future. Bring it on.

well I want to trade it ,its good cond ...but the yellow makes it not so saleable, goes well in sucky waves ...but nose riding is near impossible .. hav a Dell NZ board which is a copy ..no channels , but flatter rocker and can hang 5 on that ok ... like the Fire ball so will probably go for something similar, but not clear epoxy ... cheers Baz

I've seen plenty over the years and my thought is that some foam might react to various resins.."oxidising" them to yellow..for example I surf an 11 year old Brett Munro mal and it's been in a bag/garage when not used, not white sprayed. ..and it's hardly yellowed..older tech but standing up over time..go figure

Yeah - I know that now - but didn't at the time as I went to the surf shop for something else and walked out with this just presuming it was a OZ made board.

Having said that, I have a 7S GSI that is older, has had way more use and has not gone yellow...

Well said Simondo,and I'll add some local manufactures use inferior products,have a real good look at your blanks,glass and finish.I can spot it a mile away.

an old trick is to take the board out side and p1ss on it before waxing.leave the board out on the sun all day then polish in just on sunset. your body's waste chemical compounds filtrate through the glass releasing a neutralising agent that will keep your whites whiter and the colours brighter


works on both local and import boards and your golf clubs after a bad game

It's funny but I never even notice those thumb thingies until someone comments on them on a thread.
Don't notice them, don't use them but some people on here sure do get upset about them.
I'll just keep happily posting with my fingers (or thumb) stuck in my ears.
Since it's the internet I keep in mind that when someone says something nasty to me/about what I've written that it's still just the internet.
They wouldn't be too likely to say it to my face so I try to let it wash away.
Btw a great technique to avoid the yellowing of epoxy boards is simply to sell them before they go yellow.
