After spending most of the last 3 weeks away with work I managed to spend a few hours in the shed this arvo......I finally put the fin sets in and now they are both ready for glassing. Might get a chance to do the first bit on Sunday if all goes to plan. Starting to get excited now. You can see the different outlines of the two boards in the last photo. Stoked with how they have come out so far. But there is still a lot to do and loads of opportunities to stuff things up

Thanks fellas........I am very excited about the diamond tail beast.....it has a very low rocker profile.....the nose looks like it has some but really I have just kicked it up whilst taking some foam out of it on the bottom side.

Still a little unsure of artwork if you have any ideas. The POD is sorted - it will be a resin swirl blue n white and the baked Potato will be a two tone solid beast - not sure of the colours yet. I have purchased green, blue, black and white pigments so far.

Something like this maybe.... but the colour split will be 1/3 - 2/3

Looking good Ted. Expecting a detailed clip of the board like Simondo's review. A resin bleed would look nice. The little diamond tail looks interesting.

A detailed review perhaps....in the meantime I managed to find some time this arvo to do one of them. I realised that I was missing some styrene monomer to add to my UV resin sunbake and with it being a sunday there was no where to buy it.....so sadly I had to go the old route and just add the MKEP. This almost caused me to change my mind and go for a simple colour scheme but after some prompting from Tux I felt like a pussy and went on with the original plan. It almost came unstuck a few times as I ran out of resin and had to mix some more up on the fly and struggled with the laps on one section. Its lucky I did not set the go pro up so you could all laugh at my lack of technique.....anyway after a stressful session here she is.......

Taping her up

Some minor adjustments to the original stands for ease of glassing and to save me making some other ones

Laying out the glass

Colour selections

The mess and wastage!

Thanks fellas - was fun if a little stressful at times

Pup - sorry bro no polish on this one - she will be a sanded finish. But the filler coat should bring her out a bit more. The colour is more blue in the flesh.

I have resin everywhere as well now They are FCS Power Boxes. Easy to install but a bit tricky glassing over them. On reflection i should have put more resin around them before the glass went on but you live and learn. I will put a small rectangle of glass over them before I apply the finish coat. I used a 5 Oz glass from Dion. I had been warned it was a little hard to use with the weave and it proved to be. I will make sure I use a lot more resin next time round and really soak those laps. Hope to get the UV stuff sorted today then I will be able to relax a little more - hopefully It was almost as stressful as watching Team NZ this morning.

Where did you order them from, do they come with the cant in them already or do you have to do that yourself?

picked them up from a local guy up this way - $11 each. I can get you some and send them down if you like? You need to do the cant your self....put some old fins in and line them up with the eye !!

Hoping to do the hot coat on the bottom later today and then start sanding.......you can see where I stuffed up the laps on the deck at the tail...looks like a thick pin line to hide it will be required. You live and learn

Laying out the glass for the deck

Top Lam all done

Hot coat on the deck all done
