CARN THE EAGLES!!!!!!!!!

And I can't believe the carry on about Essendon. It's taken far too long to get to this point. Watson should have lost his medal years ago and the meeting occurring in February is farcical - just take it off him as he won it juiced (even unknowingly - which from some of the evidence presented in the newspapers any ignorance is a bit dubious).

Anyone want to make rash early declarations for the Premiership, Brownlow and top 8?

They backed the wrong horse.
Cronulla would feel very relieved I'm sure.

Some of the excuses have just been hilarious if it was not so serious. James Hird just killed his once beloved club for 5 plus years. No longer the favourite son one would think

Brownlow - agree fully Drip. Not even a discussion needs to take place on that one. Maybe just following due process to avoid any further farrrrrk ups at AFL head quarters.

Predictions - Eagles can not win it but will come close. Blame the coach

As a Bombers fan I'm devastated, but in truth it's probably the right decision as although there is a level of trust in a footy club surely you have to question things when you are being told not to disclose treatments to the authorities.

It's done now so hopefully AFL footy can move on.

I don't care who wins it this year as long as it isn't the Hawks. If I had to have a bet I'd definitely be looking at a WA side with Geelong as a smokey. What is certain though is that the Bombers will have pick 1 in 2017.

Geelong's midfield is certainly going to be pretty awesome if J Selwood and Dangerfield stay fit and if S Selwood gets back to somewhere near his best (possibly debatable).

I don't think anyone enjoys what's happened at Essendon, but Woosha is a such a standup guy I am sure he will put the club on the straight and narrow similarly to the effort at the Eagles ten years ago.

Not that they should be contenders, but the Pies are my "anyone but..." team. I'd rather see Freo take it out than the Pies.

Scotty I Do believe they started the year like champions then faded .

The supplements taken allowed them to train harder then the reSt so could be the reason behind their performance , but then a lot of teams start well then fade through the season .

How did the Sharks go in the season they took the same stuff

They faded because they got a lot of soft tissue injuries from being too powerful too quick. They just missed the finals after being 8 and 1, and their captain won the Brownlow medal. So the juice had mixed benefits.

Disappointing for Bombers supports, lucky for the guys and girls that placed bets on them getting the wooden spoon before this all went down. Don't think they deserve a bail out either because what would that be saying to other clubs thinking of trying a similar thing. Should just take it on the chin and use it as motivation for 2017

The afl will need to bail them out once the law suits are done I reckon. If I was one of those 34 I would have them in court very soon.

Financially, keep them solvent, but no drafts concessions in the coming years. My two bobs worth.

SP you summed it up nicely. Incredible that he is in charge of everything football related and blames the people he employed. Especially if he had reservations part way in why did he not axe them them confess all and move on. What a (insert SP word)

WTF.. ??

Do you mean like whining about people posting surfing in a surfing forum then posting completely unrelated **** to surfing in the same surfing forum?

Or asking about mid lengths then complaining when someone else posts something??

http://iview.abc.net.au/programs/abc-news-special-james-hird-interview/NS1604H001S00

Interesting watch. I thought the interview was very poor. The interviewer was poor - she failed to follow up on any of her perceived tough questions. Leigh Sales would have been a much better choice. I thought she left a lot on the table. Never really took it to James. Whimp.

Some of the questions that remain un-answered in my world:

1. How come there was no record of the injections?
2. Why did none of the players admit to injections?
3. If no one knows what was injected how can you say that no one took any banned substances?
4. Why do you still fail to take any real responsibility?
5. Dank and Robinson - why did she not hammer more questions about those two - especially given the comments Hird made. Poor journalism.

It seemed to me that Hird did not want to say too much to incriminate himself but made it pretty clear that everyone else was to blame but himself - still not taking any responsibility ! Incredible. I would think that after that interview the guilty 34 should be looking forward to a pretty substantial settlement.
