Southern comfort brings back some bad memories Bill . Last drank it to excess as a 15 year old a long , long time ago have not been able to look at it since without feeling rather ill

Might be able to squeeze this weekends work on the west coast into Friday if I push it . So Bill if you are up this way I should be able to meet up for a paddle and check out the new board .

Billboard I know you have been a fan of NSP for sometime now.

There are so many brands that retail for 1400 + so your not having
ago at McT.

One question,I trust this review will be from a longboarder and not some
crazy stand up paddle boarder,it would only seem fair to the board don't
you think

What I am interested to find out in this board is how it "feels" compared to the tuflite mals that I have a slight leaning towards. From what I hear and from what Ive found with coco mat sups I expect super lightweight just like a tuffy BUT I am informed that the board actually has "feel" and by that I mean, a flex akin to that of PU and I think that if the hype is true then someone has come up with a super light/super strong and very lively and "real" feeling longboard.
I will reserve my judgement until I ride it and I will give an honest appraisal from an average intermediate surfers point of view.

And before the knockers start on me - yes, I have had a long relationship with gsi and in all honesty the nsp boards are IMO the best thing gsi have ever, and probably will ever do. I dont get any freebies from gsi - yes I get a very small discount from being a long term customer but thats it. I just love the nsp label and am bewildered why more experienced surfers arent riding their boards.

Because they look like crap tbh, I have never seen an NSP that I thought gee I would like one of them. I know its just the finish and the shape is sound but even the colours look, well, gay. I know I shouldnt say that but they do. I know, I know its a price point thing but they look crappy to me. The Coco mat might look better, it would want too if they wanna sell alot of them. They look like very old windsurfers from the 80s

well what i have heard and some telling me is this. that the coco supposedly takes the tufflite/epoxy chattery feeling away, which then should make the construction more lively. looking forward to your review as the one you gave the 8ball was pretty close to perfect

When was the last time you saw an nsp mal d'fer - they look no different to any other longboard colourwise I reckon. I'm not so sure how much I like the cosmetics of the coco yet, only having seen it on a sup. I do hear though that all the coco mat boards have new colours on the way.

Let me think, um it was the weekend. Mate Ive seen plenty and they look bloody horrible imo.
I think the look of a board is what people look at most before the actual performance as its the first thing they see. Look at mac, he wouldnt buy a clear/white board, he buys boards that look great, the actual performance comes later, the spray/tint is more important. Im different I like plain boards but thats me.
At the end of the day NSP is a price point product and a good one at that.
If you like them then ride them.

No doggie I first go with what I think would work for meand then go with the art side which is a little fun for me.

Thinking of selling SUNSET,the Splice is a much user friendly board to ride.

Cheep is not always the best

Someone once told me this

Hey d'fer - the nsp boards arent pricepoint - the 9.6 in particular is a very good shape and well constructed, and priced what a 9.6 mal should be priced.
I personally reckon the basic stripe colourways of the nsp longboards is truly classic as is very popular with all shapers/brands and even very popular with McT and has been a mainstay colour/spray on the fireballs for 20 years.
I have to disagree about macs sprays - I think they look shlt, and really detract from the classic finish that goes hand in hand with the premium McT product.

cmc to the rescue

i had a go of a proto cmc brought back with him.

a -looked nothing like a traditional nsp

b- it was be far the best nsp i've been on. so much as i would get one if i rode 9'2 ish boards. a very lively turnable board

c- the lightest 9'2 ish 666 i've ever picked up

d- i'm told it was further refined then the roughie i tried

e- proto graphics looked good. some design work was put into it

f- no it wasn't blue

shape up boys, nsp are on the move in a big way so look out

I'm not bagging NSP at all,I never bag brands, each to their own as I said from the beginning I know you've been a fan of NSP for a long time.

Looking forward to the review Bill.

As Lacey has said already most should be ready to reconsider what the NSP brand represents.

In 11 years it is now and this is factual not marketing spin the largest volume selling surf and stand up paddle brand globally. True fact. It's in 73 countries and while GSI is big it is also sold by the largest distributors all through Europe, Hawaii etc independently of GSI. It's everywhere.

And yes, I am frothing to get my new 9'2 Coco SUP this looks nothing like any NSP before it.

Wait to you see the Elements range by the way....

It's now much more than the thermoformed Epoxy foam boards it always been.
