How does the 7'11 paddle ? I'm looking at one for my next board as I currently have a X32 8'8 but having lost 10kgs (now 83kgs) I am finding it a bit big for me. I have demoed an 8'3 X32 previously but found it difficult to paddle (though I was 93kgs then) I mainly ride beach breaks as for some sadistic reason I enjoy dropping in late and hanging on for the best!! :-)

Thanks for the info yt04, Sounds like it might be the go. I liked the 8'3 X32 but I found it didn't track very well and you had to be in exactly the right spot to catch the wave. I've never had a board that short before but I don't think it should be a problem as I'm only 5'9

I'm only 5'9 myself just a bit larger round the middle. You'll have no dramas mate they are great boards. I also have the 7'2 bam bam and that makes you work at my weight, but I do like a challenge!! Whereabouts in qld are you? I surf sunny coast and could probably meet up at currimundi lake and give you a crack on mine if you like? Just let me know mate, I'm pretty free at the moment just not next Wednesday.

Adamart - sounds like you need to try the Vex carbon.
I have the 8'6 and once I got used to the drop in width (a couple of paddles) just love it - especially in the cleaner/bigger surf.
I also have Bambam 7'2 which is a lot of fun in anything and Bambam 7'6 which is my all round "big" board for those more crappy days.
Before I got these boards I was steady around 92-94kg. I am now steady around 84-85kg. I am 6'1 and 58yo.
Riding 9 or 10 foot boards did nothing really for my fitness, but these little buggers sure do.

This is Juan Pablo, brand new member here, original from Chile and living in Melbourne while doing a PhD. I've been following your comments and advice and I more than keen about getting a SUP to spend my time doing some water sport down here :) I think I have saved some money to go and try an EVOKE board, but here is where I would like to get your advice guys:I am 1.76 74kg; my partner is 1.70 64kg. I am very willing to get a board to use it in flat water and try some waves in Torquay; my girl is willing to paddle flat water only here in Mlebourne. Since we are students, we do not have the budget to go for two boards, so I would like to know which one could be a good choice to satisfy both of us.We would like to go with the Evoke waterborn 2016 9.2'... is that a good choice??Cheers! My wife is 55kg and she paddles the 9'2 on flat water up to our local creek mouth with my son on it who is 22kg. All these boards are 32 wide and stability is very very good. I am 92kg and I ride her board (Bamboo) as well as my 7'11 Carbon. The 9'2 behaves very similar to the 7'11 on a wave but paddles into them a bit better and is more stable in windy conditions. I don't think you could go wrong with the 9'2. Hope this has helped.

Hello. Bought the 7'11 evoke carbon. For me at 75+kg is super fun, ultra stable and surfs well but having improved my technique, find it lacks the extra speed and surf performance of my 7'2 Bam Bam.
My question is now that we have rough peaky winter conditions with lots of water movement I need the extra stability back. Am I going to find the 7'6 Bam Bam roughly as stable as the 7'11 evoke?
They have about the same volume litres. No 7'6ers in SA to demo!
Is there a big difference between 7'6 and 7'2?
The 6'10 is noticeably smaller, it rips on glassy days but is hard work on the knees.
Also any suggestions on ways to increase speed of Evoke? running as a quad at moment.
My wife and daughter love paddling around on this board. It's a keeper.

Original sizes for these boards were 7'11, 8'10, 9'4, 10, and 10'6. At 32 wide we found most of the guys/gals who were wanting to surf them went for the 7'11 option and most of the cross over crew were hunting the 9'6 and up sizes. I agree there is a gap in this size range and will address in the next range we do for the evoke. I am 92 kgs and feel the 7'11 is still an easy board to paddle and is really responsive in the surf. My wife wants a board between the 7'11 and 9'2 so looks like the pressure is on :)

looks the same outline and literage as the orange one ( I have one) - green looks sweet!

Thanks for the reply tim, 8'6 or 8'8 and a little thinned out so not too much volume could prove to be a winner, I imagine the 7'11 is a fun board but I'm not too sure about going so short

had the 9'2 Carbon for 8 months and love It. Great board and awesome value.

I am currently looking at downsizing to a flow but am struggling to justify the extra dollars after being so impressed with the evoke.

the 7''11 would be too much of a step down, but I would be very interested if there was an 8'6 ish evoke coming out soon???

Chop, the detail states they've included a pvc wrap in the build making them stronger and lighter. Not that my 7'11 is heavy anyway. Do it, you know you want too. Just have to do a couple of quick cashies!

7'11 is coming in in Fluro Green! I adjusted the shape file so that the rails are 5mm lower and sharpened the edge through the fin area even more. We dropped the rails across the whole new range and gave all 3 constructions a new face lift. Although the rails have been lowered to assist with performance I spread the voume out from the stringer so that we didn't loose volume in the board. This way big guys like me (I'm down to 88kg now) can still paddle the 7'11 with less effort than most performance 9'0's on the market. We will have a full video on the board soon detailing both construction and demonstrating how the surf (using our sales team). If you can't wait for that... we have just filled our stores with them and they are currently outselling all other boards :)

What fins do people use on the 7'11 Evoke? I have a quad set but thinking of using a center fin / Tri fin set up.

Does any one use this set up? What size center fin do you use?
