Super stoked with this new board from Naish - Hover Ascend Carbon Ultra 7'0"

What a weapon. I didn't get much of a session on it yet as I got out too late from work. Paddles incredibly fast. I clocked 12.9kmh on my paddle out last night. This board has so many applications, and I can't wait to put it through a few of them.

- The obvious one we all want to work - DW prone foiling. This will be hard, it is hard enough on SUP, but I think it will be very possible - watch this space.
- Catching faster and fuller bumps. I only got a very short go on the board last night, and my first two waves I fluffed working out where I want to stand. It is much further back than I was anticipating with my foil mounted all the way forward.
- This board is going to be excellent for larger humans that either have trouble popping up or suffer from lack of paddle speed for what ever reason (possibly also a great board to learn on) but do not wish to SUP. The paddle speed is probably double what I can do on my normal 5' prone. But more so the board rides in the water really well. Tricky take offs and taking your time are no issue. Once up, to my surprise the board was super light and insanely balanced. My third wave (first wave actually up with correct stance) I scored a 3 for 1 with no effort at all.
- Breaks with long paddle outs. This is a given.
- Bigger waves - GUN style. Paddle speed is essential for the big ones (not really my forte).

The board is incredibly light (sorry in all the excitement forgot to weight it), but again, doesn't feel 7' when you're riding it.





Definitely going to be a go to board for many crew. Possibly my favourite new Prone.

yeah, this is exactly what I was waiting for. Coming from a SUP background, I find it crazy how people are trying to go so darn short in the name of pumping. All the prone boards feel tiny to me and super fun to pump and throw around - but they can't get into waves anything like SUP. Honestly, If the board is really light and well balanced on the foil, 7' should be no problem (as you've found)

12.9kmh is really quick. I can easily see people DW prone foiling on clubby style boards.

I'm interested to see where we are next year with longer, higher volume boards. Colas posted interesting prototype long board foils.

Here is a quick mash up of my session the next day in more light. Very well balanced and no problem getting 2,3 or 4-for-1's. Really happy with it. I am hoping the ability to paddle fast will result in DW-ability. But you still have the pop and launch - Time will tell ;)

Ha now there is going to be some really pissed off mal riders around once this thing starts to get out there.
I overtook a mal today that dropped in on me 50m up the line , the only thing they had left was being able to paddle in earlier than me on my 5' prone.Worth considering just to see the look on their greedy little faces haha

Don't want to ruin the fun, but 12.9km/h prone paddling a 7ft mal with a foil attached sounds like a GPS malfunction.

I bet they were in disbelief by how fast you closed the gap . Prolly were thinking "no way they can connect the section" ...

I just knew Naish would come back swinging - the new line of foils/mast/fuse look amazing

Still yet to take on the challenge awaiting good conditions. Down Winding is challenging on a good day, the weather is fickle at the moment, so awaiting the right day to take it on.

Definitely do-able if you have the skills and good conditions. Just need both to align.

Does it feel cumbersome on the turns JB? Great to hear you can still pump it but what's it like on sharp turns with that longer swing arc? Sounds good to me. Paddling that 5.0 prone of mine ... my days are numbered lol.

Hey Eppo. Yes in fact with the foil mounted forward it doesn't feel big at all. I have no issues connecting 3,4,5 waves and getting good turns and then if I choke a pump return the paddle out is not pain sakeing. This is my new go to prone for sure. Still awaiting a good DW day to commit to a journey - Sydney wind is evil!

Hey Scotty, yes, I really want one. I hate the "too-close" angles. I asked Go-Pro to lend or give me one but they said no! Unfortunately I can not afford one at the moment. Maybe I should do a go fund me? .

Can't wait to prone my favourite spot ******. and get DW on it. Timing and conditions always my vice.

Yeh I think you may be onto something. For sh1ts and giggles had a prone the other day with my 95 litre wind wing fanatic board 5'4 long. I swear it didn't paddle much quicker than my 5 foot Amos board at 36 odd litres hence not much easier catching waves. Hull length in board equals max speed so maybe it's the same. That sweet spot between enough length for board paddle speed, enough volume but not too much otherwise you can't duck dive it. But not too long as it affects the pumping ability to link up.

Poor guy, he doesn't know that he's on a board that won't work. I hope someone on a 4'2" stopped him that day and told him that he wasn't having fun.

Someone smashed his usual 4'4 up in the carpark the other day since he keeps making the rest of us look bad.

I'm new to prone foiling and deciding on how to organise the quiver. Ideally I'd like a prone/kite/wing sinker in the same board with straps. naish saying the 7.0 good to 100kgs and the 5'8 better for 100+ not sure how that works considering the volume is greater on the 7.0?

I'm figuring this 7.0 would be good to learn on and not really a throw away unless I get into SUP foiling. Once I get some skills on the 7.0 something like the 4'10 hover wing at 60L could satisfy the above requirements. I just don't think that's the right one for me to start on. My previous shortest board for surfing is a 5'9 45l. At 112kgs and 6'6 not many normal prone boards suit. Currently on Slingshot hover glide infinity foils.

The 7'er is awesome. Superior paddling speed and easy control. It is great to learn on, but also for guys that are not super fast to their feet, or if you ride in a location where you need more paddle speed or have a super long paddle out. When the foil is mounted forward and your stance correct, the board feels tiny and light. I love it!!

All depends on what you are after. Paddle speed and easy takeoffs, you can't beat the 7'er. I love the way it turns also, has a rally nice flow to it. I have proned on a few of the shorter wing boards (and tried using straps), but honestly I prefer SUP foiling for hard turns and power foiling. The 7'er gets into waves/bumps way earlier than short prones, and I find it pumps great, I get can regularly get 3 and 4 for ones. Best thing is the paddle back out is a dream .

It is a style machine that is simply just fun to foil on!

I would love to try one but they are pricey and not easy to find in Europe.
So i have just bought an old Goya windsurf waveboard (245cmx64liters ,75eur),going to chop nose and tail to about 7', add a foil box(50eur) and go try :)
Windsurfers have pretty straight rockers and they are built to take the loads from mast and feet in jumps,might be heavy but it should work.I hope...
If the mini-mal surfoil concept works for my conditions i may buy the real thing.

I think it is a good to idea, the midlenght foil foil, just a different way to surf foil.

And for average surfer or older surfer this is a good option.

I just got the 7ft Naish and I hope to learn prone on it, just wondering what is the best Wing size to start with? I have the Armstrong 1550v1 & v2 & HS1250 & HA1125 (for future use) so I would be very happy to receive any advice?'-)
