Put the the back strap all the way back and diagonally mount the front one mid way and just keep it loose see how that goes and adjust from there.
That is what I did but the back footstrap still seemed to be too far forward..When peddling for a wave I was in the front footstrap and behind the back footstrap.
I always paddle for a wave in surf stance, feet a little more than 2 feet apart but I found out I am not exactly on the centerline of the board and the footstraps will help with that.
I windsurf for 30 years and have 25 years experience with footstraps but still I managed to damage 4 footstap holes, the screw won't hold in them anymore.
The footstrap screws are quite short and not very thick and the plastic of the inserts is very soft.
