I have had a few goes foiling with the wing but haven't had a chance to try it downwind yet.
It is relatively easy on my strapless 6'8 sup but I think it would be extremely difficult on a prone board without straps.
The ideal board IMO would be something in between a prone and a sup board, like a low volume sup or a very high volume prone board with straps.

When I said earlier that I wanted to down wind under my own steam I meant on a sup with a paddle, with the wing yep I'm sure the 900 axis will be great.
Hopefully get a chance to try soon.

Quick edit from a sess yesterday, as you see on the last wave (even it is in slow motion), the lift during the take off is easy to control, actually compared to others foil (including Axis) on this 900 HA you control with your back foot.

I've been proning the 90 & 100 , the 90 is more nimble and amazingly seems to pump the same

I was out with a couple of friends today, both on sups. One had the 900 the other at maybe 80-85 kegs on the 100.

Same for the much lighter guy on the 900. Quite a few 3 for 1's from both and they pump around fast!

They was laying it over very nicely, some good hookey turns. The bloke was surfing the 100 for the first time and was happy with it.

They are downwind animals but foil waves really well in the right hand it seems.

Both on the super short fuse I think.

So the S75 is not obsolete yet?
I need something smaller then the S82 for our beach break and control and easy turning are more important than speed and pumping.
We are also getting the S900 for winging and pumping.

The 75 is not obsolete but quite similar to the 900, better for quick turns. But once you are used to the 900 it is hard to go back, at for me for me.

Looking at getting a s750 and s900 for surf (SUP and now prone) to cover larger, smaller days. Maybe grab a 1000 down the line when I can scare up more $ for downwind. Anyone familiar w/ Axis tell me how that sounds?

I think you'll find the the 900 will cover most of that. I'd just get that to start and go from there.

You want the Ultrashort fuse mate.

440 for pumping
400 for carving

I have the 440 for pump & thinking about getting the 370 to loosen things right up

Been prone on SS infinity 76 for 1 year and haven't had opportunity to try other foils.Very happy with the speed range and glide of 76, and I have kited and tow surfed it as well with no probs. Has anyone had the same foil and switched to another brand? Interested in maybe better pumping and turning for prone surfing.....thinking Axis or Armstrong ?

Whatever you do, try a high aspect wing. They really are amazing.

Thanks for reply, Im 85 kgs, thinking axis 900 ?or maybe Neil Pryde medium slim ? anyone compared those, not too sure about Armstrong ,sound like well made foils but If they don't perform any better than others would prefer to save the money.

Hey Kobo I'm same weight as you and have both the Axis 900 & NP Slim Medium, today was the first day I had the 900 in shoulder to head high and wished I was out on the NP . Running through the broken sections of white water at speed was pretty sketchy on the Axis , where as the NP glides through much easier plus it actually surfs heaps better going top to bottom on a open face . The Axis still pumps way better and you can ride it in those conditions but the NP is way more at home in it.

That's good to know, perhaps the normal NP Medium or the Axis S750 would have been even better than the NP Medium slim in these conditions?

Yeah for sure the 900 has its limits but still a great wing . Still put the NP in front of std Med and the 750 , it's a very dynamic wing.

Maybe pumpability and surfability are two opposite features difficult to combine in a single wing, Can you pump back out on NP Slim? I'm 56 and though I would be happy just to prone, but now I want to do everything ,I can pump for 30m or so on the SS76, but was hoping there is a good pumping and surfing set up out there that might make it easier for me. Any thoughts on the New Naish jet range as well ?

I still pump back out on the slim and link multi waves , I'm 56 to BTW it's just the 900 is easier. Haven't tried the Naish but they are less high aspect compared to these two. The Axis 820 is a good all rounder but it's pretty slow compared to the 900. Plenty of guys our size are just proning the 900 and loving it , plus some new exciting Axis wings on the way , NP have some gear as well but we'll be 57 by time it comes out

Hey Piros are you meaning it's sketchy trying to make it through sections because it's catchy ? Or just the wing can't handle the pressure parts with on the wave when you hooking ... ????

Going around broken sections at speed , it needs tons of front foot pressure and kept flat , otherwise it will breach or blow out . Not so much an issue in a clean wave face. It's definitely not a wing I'd attack the foam ball on but rather go wide around it . If the wave in front has broken and leaves a foam trail that's where I'm saying it gets sketchy. Need to remember this wing is still 900mm wide.

Even more than the NP Large? I was having heaps of trouble on take off esp on that large np wing with breaching .. will be intresting to see how the axis 1000 compares .. the axis 820 seemed quiet easy compared to the np L ..

The NP large is very different to the Axis it has instant lift where as the Axis you have to initiate it. That's why you are getting boosted on the NP. The only time we use the NP Large on the prone is on super small days . The NP Slim med has so much more flow and speed than the large. The Large is only fractionally wider than the slim but has a deeper cord and thicker leading edge with more curve , I really like it on the Sup but not so much on the prone .

I am 190 lbs and have a 5'11 Jimmy Lewis Sup, I can pump about 10 meter with an Axis S920 or S1020 but I just slow down when I try pump back out...

What would be the best Axis setup to link waves? S900 or s1000 ? , ultra short fuselage?, 400 or 440 rear wing? 68 or 75 cm mast?

Can you tell us more about the new exciting wings that are on the way?
