We all wish everyone well on their journey from this forum. Im sure we all feel the same in that we hope no harm , bad seas, wind come to anyone.

I just got an email from her saying she is back in France.

Now I can sleep in peace. Hoax or not. .at least we now know there is noone lost out there. I'm heartened by the fact that Yara cared enough to alert NZ that she could be in trouble.

strange , so it just says she's back in France? I think Yarra jumped the gun a bit there. A waste of resources could have been spent here.

I just worked it out, they don't have seabreeze forum in France , meanwhile the NZ coast guard are doing a grid search.

It took a sadly long time for some to work out that we are dealing with a person who's seamanship is questionable and humanity is next to zero. Besides being a malicious idiot playing with people's emotions this actions are wasting recources and if it proves to be a hoax which l am sure it is, deserves to be punished. Severely.

The person who caused this kerfuffle should be brought to account regardless of it's nationality. The animal.

I'm actually a bit saddened two earlier posters in that, firstly there is criticism of Yarra and secondly criticism of those who took a sadly long time. Are these comments meant to make those who acted feel a tad foolish? or is there some other reason? Yes I agree about wasting resources. I just think it is a bit unnecessary at the moment. Maybe there is info from PM's that i'm unaware of but it has not been mentioned here that NZ are doing a grid search. I presumed that at this stage NZ had been notified of a situation to look out for ie, check with radio coms and port admissions to establish if LJ had been in contact as she implied. A grid search would have been conducted after her "story" was verified and it was established that she had passed through Fiji or been in radio contact with Fiji or NZ, surely?
Given benefit of the doubt, Yarra's actions and that of others is responsible and humanitarian behavior. Back in the day of radio only, pre internet communication, i'm sure if a similar situation developed, radio operators who lost contact with a lone sailor would look into it........why should this forum be different given the situation as it unfolded?

Yes there's nothing wrong with that at all. A few years back or last year those two sailors were found washed up near Stockton beach. I thought they were members from this forum that i was talking to at the time regarding sailing in company. It was same size boat , crew and same time. I contacted pott stephens maritime. Detective called me. Even though it was a waste of their time i don't think either of us felt it was. We don't want people to start doubting. Then we get a "boy who cried wolf" scenario when someone needs help.

A online forum is not the best place to alert people of your intended passage plan neither is it a place to decided to alert authority's because of absent posting. I'm not saying the member is a foolish..... Just saying it was jumping the gun a bit without discussion with others on the forum About the facts.

The fact the poster stepped onshore at NZ and flew directly home without consideration to the worry she had caused some here shows her complete arrogance to the boating community I half suspected this to be the case since the matter arose.

To everyone making comments. There was communication between myself and Jane, and also others on the forum which I will not make public. I totally agree with your thoughts Guitz and Samsturdy.

I certainly would hope that someone would care enough to notify someone if they thought I was in trouble. No grid search was commenced by NZ Maritime so no resources have been wasted.

On my part only emphasizes my conviction, that we are dealing with a hoax at worst or an utterly irresponsible twit at best and l am sorry that others did not see it this way.

Naturally, if the slightest doubt exists of one's safety at sea every resource shall be used until a satisfactory outcome has been reached. Regardless of cost.
The peccant part is, what is the point when one should mobilize those resources.
This should be the lack of meeting one's ETA, Epirb signal, a PLB signal, a MAYDAY call, a visual SOS, a flare or one's relations. Something tangible. Not one's whim. Imo.

All of us are making valid points I think, and the robust discussion can be had without me being "saddened" , appoligies if i sounded critical.
I remember going out in my little timber put put from Kananook Creek, Frankston and overstaying into the night in the hope of catching a snapper. This was before mobile phones and i had no radio or electrics on my little open clinker. My Farther and my wife knew where I was and My wife got worried when i didn't arrive home for dinner. The old man rang the local constabulary to ask them to check the boat car park etc, but before they got there I was back in Frankston and called the wife of a public phone. The cop rang dad and asked him to give me a kick up the backside for being a bloody thoughtless prick which he did in his well practiced all be it ,measured way. I learnt the obvious valuable lesson. Hands up who here has caused a simmilar worry some time. If as I suppose she did, let the NZ ers know of her arrival then we would hope she has learned a similar lesson in regard to her communication with this forum, and if the **** has hit the fan in some aspect of her journey then it's reasonable to accept she overlooked the possibility of forum members getting concerned for her welfare I think an apology would suffice for a continued online relationship if she is returning to NZ to continue her journey to Oz in the future. That way she would know us ozzies are a reasonable bunch.

I don't belive any ETA was mentioned or passed on to the correct authoritys hence why I was surprised someone had alerted authority's on her behalf. Hence why I called ijumping the gun a bit. The fact no ETA was recorded that was a fair call Yarra.

If you like I can catch the tube train to miss Janes house in Nice share some frogs legs for lunch and take down her messages before returning back on the tube and reporting her messages here in a ETA of 12 hours from this present time being 0134hrs.
