Howdy all. My name is mike and i'm a kite addict. I landboard and kitesurf. I have been known to buggy sometimes but i prefer to do it standing up. I also love a bit of snowkiting but i don't get to do that often enough to call myself a snowkiter.

Hi all, great to see more land lovers on here. I'm from the dark side as you put it and sail a class V landyacht, but I love anything to do with wind and speed, be it on land (or in your case, well above it) or on water.

I hope I can see you guys in SA in action one day, the vids & pics look great!!

Its Stockton beach, actually up the Anna Bay end I think. Velocity has a sick video from a recent visit up there.
It would be excellent for a land yacht at the top end where the pic is taken, but the beach gets narrower as it gets closer to Newcastle.
I've buggyed several times from Anna bay to the shipwreck, approx 20klms one way!!. Need an ESE wind to do it easily. Top end where the pic is takne works best in SE with a low tide.
The inner dune area is good after rain in any wind direction, if the sand is dry its only possible with a big foot buggy and its a downwind trip, no problem if you have a 4WD and a spare driver.
Its serious 4wd sand driving country, softroaders are always getting bogged there. need a permit to take a vehicle on the beach or into the dunes, available from Anna bay servo.

Sydney Buggier here, been buggying for a few years now and met plenty of great people doing it. I currently ride for KitePower in Sydney and have done so since the end of last year (Hi Steve) and gotta say it's been pretty damn good.

Looking forward to meeting some new kiters through SeaBreeze.

great stuff . I'm a blokart sailor in Sydney and am trying to get land sailing happening around Sydney and anywhere in a three hour radius and beyond. It would be unreal to meet up and have a run somewhere and see how the blokart performs against your gear,even swap rigs for a test run. At the end of the day we all sail on land.

Yet another spot on the adventure holiday list.
when are the best winds + beach conditions. ie time of year

Yeah Doc we all sail on land, no problems from me mixing it with blokarts or land yachties, even on the water I chase down any interesting looking boats and get up closer for a look if I can.

Stockton is best for a landyacht over summer, from October to April, SE to E winds work best on a low tide during daylight hours, beware of mad 4WD drivers (most are fine) and fishing rods and lines.
Buggyers can get back into the dunes in winter especially if it has been raining a lot.

Great spot for a weekend or longer getaway. Libre buggy shipment should be late here this week I hope

Hi guys my name is John, I've only been into kiting about 6mths but caught the bug from day 1, I now have a PL MKII buggy an array of kites all fixed bridles as yet, think I'll get the experience on them first before upgrading to a de-power, though I tempted after the pounding I copped the other day.
It nice to see some familiar names, I was wondering what happened to all the Sydneysiders.
Bumped into Steve and Jon today from Kitepower at Wanda/Cronulla with that Libre machine, it's awesome.

I was looking at at doing landsailing however after looking around they look like a bit of a problem to sail with laws ect

So I gess my first question is how hard is to get into kit buggies is there any where near hervey bay qld to do it

Welcome, I am not sure about laws I think most of the time common sense accounts for most of it. for eg, my local park has a lot of people walking through it, I find being diplomatic about it with smiles and chit chat is a good way to keep the rangers at bay.

Preferably wide open spaces are the best places to do buggying, in fact I would have thought buggying would be more policed than land sailing/ blowcarts as we have 100ft of kite lines to kill people with rather than just a mast attached to a blowcart.

Either way, just keep it away from people whenever possible, most people I have found are more fascinated by the sport rather than put out by it.

As for Harvey Bay, I am sorry I do not know of people up that way, but would have thought you have some pretty good beaches up there to hit at low tide.

If you haven't flown a kite before, suggest getting your skills up static flying first then hopping in a buggy, trying to learn both at the same time would be frustrating.
