Just wondering how accurate the woo is and also if hitting waves when jumping gives misleading figures ive seen some readings that seem way higher than prob actual

Personal feeling after a year of using one is that they seem fairly accurate in terms of height although have had a couple of sessions where it seemed off by about 1m. Hangtime also seems good and made me realise how 4-5s seems to feel like way longer when you are in the air. As for hitting waves they definitely give higher readings so a good swell can add to the recorded jump as it seems to count the way up before you come off the lip.

I know for sure the woo1 jump heights are no where near the woo 2!, There is at least 3 meters difference between them. Have had 2 friends with both woos on and both times 3 meter difference. I have read on other forums 1 person said people are boosting anywhere from 3 to 7 meters higher than woo1.

The processing uses a bunch of Kalman filters to workout the results. If you read up on how these work you can appreciate where the errors and inaccuracies come into play - and also how to improve accuracy/cheat when gluing the mount to the board. The short version is that there are bunch of assumptions made about where the sensors are mounted. Move outside these assumptions and the results will start to diverge from reality.

I thought Woo -> Woo2 was a different product with new (and more) sensors. Hence with more sensor readings you might expect a different result because the equations they are using will be very different. 3m different sounds a lot. I assume that isn't across the board though.

Ultimately you kind of want to ignore the outliers anyway. I mean you'd be kidding yourself if you did one 12m jump once but your regular jumps were all 5-7m and claimed you were a 12m booster right?

Just seen the new Apple Series 3 watch. Has a built-in altimeter, maybe that is more accurate??
Can measure wave height when surfing, no reason to see why it can not measure jump height.

Least you can hold your arms over ure head then for higher readings :-) get a piq anyway. At least you can be in the gang then.

Has anyone used the Woo 3 and linked to a smart watch to get real time results?
If so I would be interested to know what smart watch you used. I was not keen on putting the latest Apple or Samsung watch in the water as they are not high speed water sports proof.

A mate here in NZ has put his woo2 and 3 on the same board, Again the new improved model jumps 2 meters higher. Just like the woo 1 and 2 were around 3 meters difference. Woo 3 tend to measure every tiny bit of air time.

Ive never used one but my jumps feel much higher than it could possibly read, so I already assume it's not reading high enough.

Cmon, 1meter higher 1-2. Then another 2 meters higher for 2-3. Im calling BS. That makes a 1 meter jump measure 4meters!

My jump heights are 2 to 3 times as high, when no one sees them.

Richoa, I'm not pulling your leg, We have had big air comps here to prove and other friends proved it as well . 2 woos on same board .(woo1 and 2) and now we have put 2 and 3 on . There was 3 meters between 1 and 2 and now 2 meters between 2 and 3.

I definitely think the woo 3 is closer to correct height than woo 1. 12 meters on woo 1 felt really high where on woo 3 it doesn't feel high at all

I noticed on the link with the comparison between woo1 and woo2, the time measured airborne is in general 0.3-0.4 seconds longer with the new version - which is going to equal a higher jump.

Maybe the old algorithm lost a bit of height at takeoff ?

showed I was getting minus 3 meters of air,
so seems very accurate to me,

If anything it seems that waves give a lower jump height, most of the guys here using them find they get higher readings on the WOO jumping on flat water than they do in the waves.

We've tested 2 on the same board etc. and generally found them to be pretty close, rarely as much as a metre between the two. Haven't tested the different models side by side though.

Had my first play with the Woo this past week. 8.9m without even trying.

As a kid, I remember diving off the 7 and 10m boards at the Commonwealth games pool facility. I guess the meter isn't what it used to be cos it seemed nowhere near as high.

I reckon the guys baggin the value of these devices be it woo, pic, trace whatever, have missed the point of mucking around with mates, a good laugh at the pub and just pure fun of banter.

I reckon that's down to being able to hold an edge better in flat water. Certainly is in my case. Its difficult (for me anyway) to build the same line tension from one bit of chop to the next so the value of the launch ramp is diminished.

I put a Woo 1 and a Woo 3 on the board and tested them together.
Woo 1 was mounted on the heel side and the Woo 3 on the toe side of the board.
Last pic is Woo 1, Woo 3 registered more jumps.

Brand New Woo 3 - Tested and confirmed piece of crap - cannot measure jumps off waves.

Test 1 - 13.8m off flatwater, ok believable..

Test 2 - 14.8m Full speed flatwater into head height perfect angle & launch shaped wave, full power in 35knot storm weather on a 9m Screamer..

What a piece of Crap
What pisses me off the most is that I bought the Woo 1 which didnt read properly then died. The warranty replacement died shortly after as well.
Thinking that they would have got their technology Crap together a few years later with version 3... fooled again !

Dont waste your money GRRRRR Im sending it back for a refund.

So what you're saying is that the resulting 1m difference in height from boosting off a head high wave and off flat water is too little? Are we talking same wind strength and kite size? If this is the case then its a little disappointing for me, being a regular footer I am patiently waiting for spring time when we get wind from the left so I am on my good tack hitting the waves and was hoping for big improvements in my heights off waves when compared to flat water.
