Hi HappyG

I use the Wainman bar as i love it. Soft ends, soft grip, above bar depower cleat with swivel and low V front lines.
If you have not seen one i guess its like a ozone bar but nicer.
I did try this years Naish bar when i demoed a Park. (i like the pivot better)
I really dont like the Naish bar. Grip is to small in diameter as i have larger hands and its hard on the hands.
Below bar depower for me is a disaster waiting to happen i think. Maybe because Im use to above bare depower...
I like most Naish gear as i have a board as well and love it. But the bar i will never get.
11m and 8m should work well i think. Use what ever bar you like the best.
My wife uses a 2015 North bar on the Pivots when she rides and no problem with that bar either and it has a high V on front lines.
The main reason she likes the North bar as you can move the depower down lower for shorter bar travel when you have short arms.
The Pivot has knots on the front lines and loops on the steering lines. My bars have loops on all 4. So on the kite i put a small knot to knot adaptor on the steering lines. This also slightly depowers the kits and stops back stalling a little.

I like the fusion bar and use it for all my kites. Pivot 8,11 Fly and a switch E3 7m, works great with them all. I really like the small bar grip and the below the bar de power. What I have found with the bar is that the foam floats seem to hold their shape parallel to the bar from been wrapped and stored. This can be a bit of an issue as it can mean that the lines can more easily get wrapped around the bar. Anyone else have this issue?

The wainman's are great kites but the Pivot is better in every way for my riding style. The naish build is better and way better inflate system. The new wainmans have octapus system now but still a small inflate defate nipples

After reading this entire thread, I must say, I am completely sold on the Pivot. So many people giving great input about it.
- Are all you guys secretly Naish brand reps?? (I'm joking - just in-case)

Quick question.
I'm 73kgs and I've been riding a 10.5m 2015 Liquid force envy. This kite is pretty powerful, almost pulls me off my edge in 19knots.

I am thinking about getting an 11m and an 8m pivot for next season. Can anyone provide some input as to whether this size would suit. I think the 11 would be mostly used in wind below 17kts while the 8 would be used above 17. Any advice? I'll mainly be using it on flatwater for boosting and progressing in freestyle riding.

Also, is everyone referring to the 2015 pivot in this thread or do some of you guys have older models? Just curios as to what model is best.

What is the price range for these kites roughly? Should I wait for next season to buy the 2015 model?

Cheers

Hi Pauly

11m and 8m should be a good choice. 11m will get ya going in 12k up to 20k.
Since i have gone to the Pivots my riding has progressed so much and learning lots more tricks.
The boost, hand time and landing will surprise you how great this kite is.
2015 is the first model and only model at this stage.
I have spoken to my shop about the 2016 and at this stage very little changes will be made so no point waiting for new model.
The price is on par with other premiem kites like switch blades so on.
The build quality is 10/10 so you do get what you pay for.
Out of me and my mates kites we have 6 different brand kites and the Pivot has the best build quality by far.
I pay top dollar for all my kites and really dot get much of a chance to demo that's why i have a few different brands of kites.
The Pivot will be my every day kite for a long time now i think.

Demo'd the 12m Pivot yesterday, was absolutely stunned by how much low end this kite has!

I'm 92+ kgs and was out in piss weak 9-10kt winds at Narrabeen which for me is unheard of. My old 15m LF Envy wouldn't have worked in those conditions. It was so marginal, I normally wouldn't have even pumped up but was keen to at least fly the kite on the beach. There was one other guy out (also on a Pivot) making headway, so I decided to give it a go with my North Nugget. Whilst I didn't quite stay upwind, I was up and riding quite easily and cruising. Problem solved... no more big and slow kites for me! Can't wait to have a go in some decent wind...

I've still got no info about the high end of this kite. I'm planing on buying an 11m and 8m when the 2016 model comes out, however, the 8 seems like it would be more powered than my 10.5m LF Envy :O .... I was planning on buying an 8 so I can loop is easily and also go out in rather windy conditions. However it seems very powered. Does anyone have any info on the high end of this kite?

Cheers

Demo'd a 10m a few days ago. Wind was a bit ordinary so can only judge Certain aspects. Was impressed with the low end. Other kites out on 12s and even a 14 and I faired no worse than them. I currently fly 2012 parks 10 and 12 which are the best kites I've ever flown, and was hoping to replace both with a 10 pivot. I am a bit sceptical on the regular claims of one kite quivers from manufacturers, but have some confidence this may be the case.
I didnt upgrade to 2013 or 2014 parks as I found they didn't jump as well as the 2012. I also had some trouble on the pivot, maybe you guys can help. I'm used to really sending parks to boost and find great hang time and landing control. On the pivot when I sent it past 12 quite hard, I found it stayed really sent and didn't come back to 12, my landings were hard. I assume the pivot doesn't need sending, just go to 12 and bar in? The wind died and I didn't get a chance to experiment. I can get a pivot cheap as a shop rider, but hope I don't lose something in the jumps. Any advice, similar experiences?

BurkeyBoy, I demoed a 10 Metre Pivot in Flukey 18 - 25knot wind trust me you just need more wind and this kite is very good.

I think you need to bring the kite harder accross the window as it doesn't jerk you up like a High Aspect kite.

The Pivot is Very Smooth very well made kite. Next Year it has the above bar depower like every other kite maker has (thank god).

I am heavily considering getting a 11 Pivot at the moment the 10 was fun but a bit more power for my size an 11 in 20-25 knts then we will see some boost.

I might have to eat it with the bar at moment unless I can get a really cheap North bar or similiar. The bar throw on the Naish Bar is way to much.

I am demoing a lot of kites at the moment the Pivot is the best for my riding ATM.

Not sure how a kite can have too much bar throw when this can easily be adjusted with a sliding stopper. Naish don't fit them in the factory. I believe it might be for litigation reasons.
You can easily just screw one on yourself - www.briskites.com.au/index.php?l=product_detail&p=1679

Bris Kites, Considering your knowledge on Naish and North Kites can you give me a comparison between.

2015 Naish Pivot & 2015 North Evo

There are not any Demos of the North Evo in Melbourne, I have been demoing a few kites and have been a North Rebel rider for many years.

I must admit I did like the Naish Pivot but I have been told that the Evo is a great allrounder that has pretty good drift in the surf but can boost like a demon.

Cheers Happy G. I did give the pivot another try and also demo'd a 2015 Park. I just can't go past the park. I guess I'm just so used to how it behaves.
Regarding the throw on the Naish bar, yep it is huge, and I've yet to find a sliding stopper that works on this depower rope, just keeps slipping no matter how tight I screw them. I hope this new bar is better than previous. I'm glad they've gone away from that awful skin ripping grip that flakes off. My old 2012 bar has worn so much through the hole that the metal is so sharp I'm waiting for it to cut the line. Also, when are Naish going to make depower lines that last longer than 3/4 of a season?

Burkey, You are bang on about the stopper they do move a bit.

I am not going to purchase a Pivot though I have gone a 2015 EVO. This thing is insane at boosting and is pretty good at drifting as well.

It does not drift like the NEO or DICE but it aint bad. I would have gone the PIVOT if the bar was better and I had more time on it.

I have to say Naish has really stepped up with this kite but North Kites are super refined and to me there gear last good enough for a weekend warrior.

The comments in this forum make the Pivot sound like the ideal kite. But would it be a good selection for a newbie? If so, what size? (88kg)

AlphaBravo,
The Pivot would be fine as a beginner kite.
Size would depend on your location and local wind strength

Awesome but expensive kite for a beginner, its not a kite that you will need to trade in after a year as you progress. However, might be worth finding a cheaper kite to start with if you think you might trash it.

I'd agree with the last comment. For learning get something around 10-13 and at least at 88kg . I'm over that now but used to b 80kg. . 14-15 I found is always better to learn with in 10-15 knots from experience. . I taught people on 2003 15 fuels the easiest. . Light wind and calm sea's and of course a board to match. Not a small twin tip and you'll be up in no time!

Made the jump from a 12m liquid force envy to an 11m pivot and am absolutely loving it. Have been kiting for 2 years and have only had 2 session on the pivot but am extremely impressed (77kg and 135 twin tip). The first session was very light and borderline going out but had a great time on the pivot. Second session was from 13 to 20 knots and despite being gusty the kite was perfect. Could really feel the smooth power, more grunt, awesome upwind ability and great jumping. At one point the wind dropped out for 10 mins and the only 3 kites still in the air were all pivots . Awesome kite!!

Sorry, have only just seen this.

These 2 kites are now quite different with the Evo moving more toward the high aspect end of things.

Drift- Pivot drifts considerably better.
Kite speed and turning- The Evo flies faster through the window and initiates turns faster. The Pivot finishes turns faster
Power- The Pivot is a fair chunk more powerful with the Evo liking a bit more apparent wind
Jumping- Easier and more consistent on the Pivot. Pivot jumps better in it's lower range than the Evo. The Evo goes BIG when powered.
Upwind- Evo points a touch higher.
Ease of use - Pivot
Relaunch - Either

Everyone seems to agree the Pivot is a big kite for its size and to buy a size smaller than normal. Can anyone compare there wind range to cab switchblades (2012)?

12 SB sweet range 18-22 kn, comfortable to 24kn (2013 model), medium bar pressure
12m Pivot sweet range 16-19 kn, comfortable to 20 kn (2015 model), strong bar pressure
I am 105kg.

Pivot is a sick kite that is for sure, very good jumping and hangtime. I found it is a slow lift with a long gentle drift down as compared to the park that is a violent rip off the water with a faster drop.

Im going to start using this kite in my school after it being so easy to use and still have great performance for the seasoned rider.
