Pointless discussion. An accident happend, if you see people standing close to people jumping, tell them to fk off or atleast inform them that it is dangerous. If you see a peanut beeing dangerous and he isn't much bigger than you, tell him to fk off. If someone gets hurt, call for help if possible.

Just to let you know, just about all of what you said just there is completely incorrect.

If you want something installed in proximity to the carpark, it's city of perth council or swan river trust you'll need to speak to. Dept of environment and conservation won't give two hoots about it.

perhaps some sort of addition to the sign at the rigging area, stating not to get too close to the shore line unless launching/landing. In the end though, youre not going to stop all of the show ponies. I just really hope we don't all get banned from the point.

"Hi Dean Thank you for your email regarding the condition of the grass at Matilda Bay Reserve. I will be fertilising and top dressing the "Pelican Point Lawn" as soon as the weather starts to warm up a little, hopefully during September. Members of the public are not allowed to apply fertilisers etc. to the lawns, however, the Department of Parks and Wildlife (the department) do have registered volunteers who can assist with this type of activity under the direction of the department. The department has recently engaged experienced lawn contractors to begin an extensive, long term reconditioning program, including the application of a soil wetting agent, aerating and fertilising and the reduction of "weed" grass species. This started in August between Australia II Drive and the Bayside Kitchen tea rooms. The area further north which the department utilises for function events will be included in a similar program with next year's budget. The lawn improvement project at Matilda Bay Reserve has revealed many challenges for instance, extensive tree root systems just beneath the lawn surface, limited depth of degraded soil above the limestone substrate, compaction of soil in key areas from park visitation, salt deposit and wind erosion from the river, along with the high presence of Paramatta "weed" grass which thrives in the conditions outlined. Ambulance costs are prohibitive - $900 or so. I know plenty of people who actually can't afford it. If ya'll could take your new found concern and ask your local MP to reduce the price, that would be great

look, there is a group of us, we kitesurf and windsurf regularly at peli point. I saw this post and was dismayed by what had happened to the unfortunate tourist. I thought it was a terrible accident, but also an avoidable accident. I wasn't there and trust that good judgement was made in the looking after of "the victim". We expressed surprise that no ambulance was called, but hey, we weren't there. I just hope all possible was done for this lady. I hope she had the best possible care and no compromise. She deserves the best. For the sake of her, the kiter, the WA state and Australia. She needs to go home and express love for a place that looked after her well in bad circumstances.
As for your buoy. I don't need a buoy to tell me to slow down from going 30knots as I approach the boat ramp, I just do it, leave a large margin of error. If you can't leave a very large margin of error then sail on the other side at Melville where you can boost down wind and not land on someone.

This location is between two yacht clubs, with a footpath, carpark, playground, boat ramps, trees, FFS all manner of stuff.

You should not need a yellow buoy to tell you where you can show off. FFS.

Analogy - if a person is standing on the edge of the blacktop at the Monaco GP they may get run over. They are dumb.
But if Danny Ricciardo drives his F1 car around the streets of a city like he does on a closed F1 track, he will eventually hit somebody and it would make him a dumb fk.

Metro kiters need to think about that.

Hoops is correct- council allows kiting there and it made the footpath there. If this lady sues it will have a lot to do with the council and could fk up kiting there. Then the other councils get on board..... its not good.
The amount of ambivalence or willful blindness to these issues will be the undoing of kiting.

you should definitely do some more research if you think the area is still within subiaco council. Look up the current council boundaries. Alternatively, have a look at what council cars rock up next time your there. (Yes, they do indeed visit the area)
