Since we're talking about the Baltimore Bridge anyway. I hadn't even considered the cost of replacing the world's third longest bridge if it were no longer up to code. There's a whole bunch of bridges in America that are now substandard. Cost a fortune to upgrade the golden gate bridge. Americans like to pull insurance jobs. I guess crashing a plane into the bridge would've looked a little suspicious. Nothing suspect about a ship without a rudder. Also nothing surprising about a bridge without pylon guards. I don't know what happened.

I look at pictures of the colapse of the bridge and all the problems that it would cause people there for maybe a decade. I understand 6 people died. Baltimore is a city of about 500k with an area of 239 square km.

I look at photos of the Gaza strip with a population of 2 mil and an area of 365 square km. Estimates are that 32k people have been killed.

Is it only me that thinks there is a massive disconnect in what we think is important news?

Oops, I think I perspicacitified the **** out of that then. I sort of assumed that people would assume that I either already knew the meaning of it (as if!) or would Google it myself.

I feel that in all fields, if someone knows something well, they should be able to dumb it down enough for the average person to understand, at least at a high level. It is amusing sometimes when some doctors get annoyed when you ask them technical questions, but also good when some doctors then give you great replies based on that.

That said, the definition I read isn't clear to me, and I am not sure 'acquired knowledge' is enough. I think it implies such deep understanding that some things are so obvious that they are no longer worthy of thought. But I don't know, and would never write perspicacity in a sentence.
