Most of the exxess CO2 we are trying to deal with now, was produced by the US and Europe. China and India are still catching up.

The per-capita contribution is the number to think about. As a rough calculation I've released about 200 tonnes of it from my own exhaust pipe. Most of it on recreational journeys. A disturbance to the equilibrium has a half-life of hundreds of years, most of mine is still up there. At least I've only recently discovered airconditioning and have yet to get a swimming pool.

Don't worry about burning your 6kg speed board when you're done with it. The CO2 is minor compared to what was released getting it to the water.

Really, airconditioning, knowing the world is on the brink already and you won't even sacrifice a little personal comfort to save it?

As long as you feel appropriately guilty when you turn it on it's all OK. Positive feedback and all! Also great to see concern about climate on a water sports forum. Can you think of any recreation which has a higher per participant carbon footprint than us? Maybe the eclipse chasers?
