Bali no thanks. Never touch nothing there but ride scooters and have a license. Got sick of being stopped and bribed. Those cops are utter pigs. Read"snowing in bali" an insight into corruption, trafficking etc. It was all facilitated by judges. Cops n lawyers working with traffickers.
I read that book recently while on holiday and, assuming its true, it really opens your eyes up to what went on there and still goes on there.
I changed my mind on Chapelle being innocent based on that book, just because it seems like bringing drugs to Bali does seem like a common thing, and it sounds like bribery is the way justice is done, and eyes are turned away.
In that book they talk about locals selling fake drugs to tourists, and it sounds like that's what happened to this young bloke. Which is sort of good, as they had nothing to pin on him, but they equally could have planted something on him if they really wanted to make him 'guilty'.
It sounds like how much money they can get out of you is the important thing. It seems like you have a window of opportunity to pay people off, but it only works when the number of people is still small.
Is it this risky for a regular person not interested in drugs, or is it risky for everyone over there?
