I can't imagine the government would let unprepared families starve to death. Seems ludicrous, avoiding the spreading is ok, shutting down food supplies would be criminal
Meh. The unprepared only have themselves to blame.
You couldn't be further from the truth. The unprepared have the hoarders to blame. There is no shortage of anything in oz and there won't be - given enough time. Hoarding is the sole cause if we end up with imbalances in food supply. Nothing else.
There will only be shortages of 20kg bags of pasta, yeast, and rice. There already are shortages. I couldn't help but notice there is PLENTY of pasta sauce, however. Shows you ...something.
This is not a nuclear war.
If you want fresh fruit, vegetables, meats, etc. etc. etc. you'll be fine. There is NO REASON that there would be a shortage. Production IS FINE, and there is no reason that would change. Supermarkets, small shops like IGA, petrol stations, pet food stores, chemists, and the like will all be open.
You won't be able to go to the cafe to get a half caf decaf mocha soy latte, however.

Enjoy your months of boring food, suckers.
