Yes I did get broadband over the old copper.

Then Telstra said they didn't supply it anymore and I had to go to NBN.

Then Telstra said they can't supply NBN because NBN has decided I am in Sky Muster territory being 15km from the city centre and having a perfectly good copper cable to my house.

I assumed Telstra refused to supply Sky Muster because they were bastards. Turns out it was because they refuse to on-sell NBN crap.

So I ended up with Sky Muster via some provider run from an old dunny in outback Queensland. Which was poor, unreliable, slow and unusable for my requirements.

Requirements that were well served on the old copper.

The old copper that Telstra used to deliver broadband on before Telstra said they didn't supply it anymore and I had to go to NBN, even though they couldn't supply any NBN service to me.

So eventually that's why I thought I'd try Starlink.

Which has now arrived, and is so far very good.



Haven't you been keeping up with this tread? There is only you and me on here and I still have to re-summarise everything every two pages ????


Anyways, enough of that. I have been wondering. I wonder if it was possible for me to get broadband over the old copper cable and if I can't get it any more should I get NBN Sky Muster or Musk's Starlink ?




Also, is a 8.5m2 fully cammed red sail faster than a 8.5m2 fully cammed blue sail ?

I think that's the difference. You think you need to remind me of what you have already said, and I am already way ahead of you, you are just too slow to realise it. It must be how Macro feels when he is dealing with his cows, or even really slow people, or even really slow cows.

What I was suggesting was that Telstra may have to supply phone services over copper, as per the USG/USO requirements. If they do, then maybe they might also be able to deliver ADSL (again). How do you get a 'phone line'? Over sky muster? That would be stuffed and the latency would bring me to tears. Okay if there is no other option but not good.

Have you even got a phone line? Have you enquired about getting one? I guess I don't want to join the dots, but maybe you have already tried that?

Don't you remember that I gave you the advice about Starlink and to sign up and wait? Are you now thinking of cancelling your service and going back to SkyMuster?

I used to think you used humour, but now I think maybe your meds are off?

Try to keep up with the program.

So Telstra don't own it anymore. They only rent the space on it.

And the owners (NBN) don't allow ADSL over it. Only voice services.

Given that you probably haven't worked in the industry and I have, maybe I should let you win that one? Your understanding of what it means is not quite right, but you seem to always want to be right instead of understanding things. What - a state owned monopoly trying to run at a profit ? Get's upset at private innovation ? Wants to raise prices well beyond CPI ? And have the law changed to favour them ?

Meehhh, I don't really think they "aggressively market" their products. How much marketing for Starlink do you see ? Hell, if you want it you have to go begging for it, then pay a deposit, then wait for them to decide if they want to give it to you. Marketing budget must be <$0.00.

Bit like MacDonald's blaming apple trees for ruining their product.
