advice on SUP guns
I'm looking at getting a narrower longer gun for bigger waves and am interested in peoples experience with them. I'm 90kg and on my SB 8'5" by 29" 2011, riding double overhead waves the board is hard to bottom turn and bounces about a lot.
Having a board 27-28" wide seems to makes sense to cut through chop and bury in the turn, while keeping the length down to get it on a plane may be important ... (I've only ever flown with short boards)
There seems to be a few guns out there:
SB 9'6" by 27" looks great but for my weight I'm thinking I need something a little more stable for the exposed reefs.
Naish 9'8" 27 1/8" looks similarly small.
Naish 10'8" by 27 1/2" a bit too big.
Jimmy Lewis Baby Bomb 10' by 28" looks about right but haven't heard anything about it on forums.
I would consider a custom board but haven't found shapers making performance SUPs in WA (any suggestions?)
I'm interested in what other people (around my weight) use in bigger waves

Is it possible to have a 'performance' longboard
HI all,

I've been out of the water for 10 months due to various injuries and recently I've been getting back in the water 2/3 times a week. I was riding a 7' Mctavish bobsled. However due to shoulder(s) injuries its a bit of a strain on them and now been using my old (cheap) 8' min-mal. I'm actually having a bit of a laugh as the wave count has gone up massively so thinking this might actually be the way forward for me these days. However its not the most maneuverable of vessel, so was wondering if there was a shape/style of board that would give that easy paddle/wave catch attributes but a little more easy to handle. I was thinking something like the 7s superfish, but reading a couple of reviews seems its definitely not so easy to paddle about it.

cheers

McT Custom Sumo Tint Ideas (please)
OK boys, I'm getting a Sumo.
Which shade of Blue should I go for?
I think I will go for a 7'10. I actually really like the glide that the longer boards give you.

I have 3 options;
- Sunset
- Blue Hawaii
- Royal Blue Deck, and Light Blue Inlay on the bottom, and fin patch.

Decal will be "Rincon '68", not Sumo. Should I go for Splayed Stringers?

McTavish Gun - Custom
Board arrived in perfect condition!

9'6 x 22 x 3 McTavish G2 (Generation 2 Gun).
(Blue Hawaii Splice? - It's light blue tint in the tail end, and light white milky tint up front)

This is my big day cruiser. My 8'6 handles the juice really well, but this is for the casual "paddle ins" into the big bombs.

I think I have 5 McT's. I'll get a line-up shot of them...
