To a few wingers at Hillaries...

Are you talking Pinnaroo Point or South from there? From what I understand Joondalup City only allows kiteboarding at North Mullaloo and Pinnaroo Point. The area from Marmion Beach to Hillarys Dog Beach is off-limits for launching a kite. You can do a downwinder from further South but there is an exclusion zone around boat harbour.

If you sail any a reef break then why would you be using a freeway board and not a proper wave board.

better volume, earlier planing than a wave board, better float and ride characteristics if you are a heavier rider, not all reef breaks look like teahupoo.

The fin tuning and choices seem a bit limited with MT for the side-fins and the odd, rewards, position of the PB centre fin...?

The MiniTuttle situation has always bothered me. Hard to get a good fin unless you import directly from the US. PB centre fin... same situation. There are no decent wave fins unless you buy MFC fins which again are difficult to get hold off... at least here in Australia.

I understand why they had to go with that strange offset Powerbox design and I suspect the vast majority of their customers never change the fin. But for people that regularly sail at reef breaks fins are somewhat of a disposable item.

Use this link to the old Metye version instead: reg.bom.gov.au/australia/meteye/

higher resolution than the new site.

Tom Hofmann who has a YouTube channel with some windsurfing action from there.

Not me. Given the person only joined in December could be someone from overseas travelling in WA. From memory 0477 is a Telstra pre-paid SIM number block.

My understanding is they are different models. BOM is a more localised forecast. In NSW for example the Seabreeze is a good indicator to what the wind will be doing in general but BOM, especially Meteye, will giver you a detailed forecast that takes local topography into consideration.

Looking at the 35 degree forecast alone I would think a strong Seabreeze is very unlikely. I haven't temps in the mid to high 30s and a strong Seabreeze at the same time.

They used to be really bad in the early 2000s up near the run way, river mouth. Probably to do with the amount of crap coming out of the river. From memory they were always bad towards the end of the Seabreeze seasons. Was the same situation down around Dolls Point.

My understanding is that the drone ban in the US is only for non-currently owned drones.

It's only for Chinese made drones ie DJI. Drones by US companies are exempt.... not that there really are any US made drones.

I have the 113 Pyro. It's incredibly fast and if you are on the taller side and have the weight for it will turn like a smaller board. I believe the Stone is a bit more aimed as cross-off down the line conditions.

I have now sold all my other wave boards and use the Pryo 113 exclusively with 5.7 down to 4.2 sails.

Edit: don't know were you are based but the 113 Pyro might be a custom order. Here in Western Australia most shops don't seem to stock too many wave boards in the 110l plus range.

It is interesting that they've been so quiet about a big change like that. Seb Wenzel has been designing excellent boards for decades

There was an article in the German windsurf magazine about the change.

Not much happens with wave and free ride boards these days. The biggest change I would say was the move to higher volume boards in the last few years. Every other year you get a brand coming out with "the next big thing" only for it disappear because it won't sell. There is a reason why some brands stopped release new boards every season. The market is simply too small.
